Hello Kitty, DC Super Heroes Merge in Latest Crossover
posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
Sanrio, Warner Brothers, and DC Comics are collaborating on a new Hello Kitty line that combines the popular kitty mascot with DC's super heroes.
The new line features Hello Kitty as Wonder Woman, Batman, and Superman on a variety of products including apparel, stationary, shoes, personal care products, and food items.
"Character crossovers have been a classic Hello Kitty spinoff for years and our fans are always in search of the latest collaborations," said Sanrio operating officer Roberto Lanzi. "We are sure that this project will soon create a new collection fever."
The Hello Kitty/DC Super Hero line will debut in retail stores beginning next year.
Hello Kitty will be added to WizKid's HeroClix miniature game, which includes DC and Marvel superheroes, some time in the future. The famous cat is getting her own graphic novels by Viz Media this fall, donned an afro in a clothing line with Tokyo Tribes, and was also featured in a number of franchise cross-overs like Naruto Shippūden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3, Vocaloids, the rock band KISS, The Ring film, One Piece, and Evangelion over the past two years. Sanrio credited the crossovers as one of the reasons it became debt-free as of last year.
