Viz Media to Release Original Hello Kitty Graphic Novels
posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
North American publisher Viz Media announced on Monday that it is collaborating with Sanrio to release two original series of graphic novels based on Sanrio's iconic character Hello Kitty. Viz Media will release the first volume, titled Hello Kitty: Here We Go!, in the main graphic novel series this fall for US$7.99. Jacob Chabot will draw the cover for the graphic novel, and it will feature art from Chabot, Victoria Maderna, and Ian McGinty. Viz Media describes the series as follows:
Hello Kitty has places to be and friends to meet! Join her (or Hello Kitty) as she explores an underground realm, chases an unsavory cake thief around the world, climbs the Himalayas, travels back in time, and discovers that sometimes, the best place to get away from it all is between the pages of a good book.
The single-volume Hello Kitty Fashion Music Wonderland graphic novel will debut at Comic-Con this summer for US$6.99. Viz Media describes the graphic novel as follows:
It's Hello Kitty as you've never seen her, in stories filled with fashion, music and adventure!
Both new graphic novel series will be released as a part of the VIZ Kids line. Viz Media previously released Street Fighter X Sanrio: World View, a book that combines the Street Fighter videogame franchise with the characters of Sanrio, as well as a tie-in sticker book.
Viz Media also releases original Mameshiba books and graphic novels as a part of the company's Viz Kids line.
