Hello Kitty Crowned #1 in Sanrio's 2012 Character Poll

The iconic mascot Hello Kitty came out on top in this year's Sanrio character poll by earned 193,685 votes. The poll closed on August 19 after 1,500,234 million votes were cast, and Sanrio announced Hello Kitty as the winner on Saturday during an awards ceremony at Tokyo's Sanrio Puroland amusement park.

Last year's winner, My Melody, came in second with 178,054 votes, followed by Little Twin Stars with 121, 233 votes. It has been three years since Hello Kitty last won the crown; she only ranked #3 last year.
