Tales of Xillia 2 Game's TV Ad Streamed
posted on by Jennifer Sherman
The "Tales of" franchise's official website began streaming a 15-second television commercial for the Tales of Xillia 2 role-playing game on Friday. This "RPG where choice weaves the future" is set one year after the ending of the first Tales of Xillia. The key to the story is an eight-year-old girl named Elle Mel Marta (played by Mariya Ise).
Daigo Okumura (Tales of the Tempest, Yumeria game, Elementhunters) is designing the characters, including the main protagonist Ludger Will Kresnik (Takashi Kondō) and his cat Lulu. Ayumi Hamasaki (Inuyasha) is contributing the theme song as she did in the first Tales of Xillia game.
The theme of the new game is "choice," as represented by decisions that the player can make using the R1 and L1 buttons to change the course of the game. The game will feature the XDR-LMBS (Cross Double Raid-Linear Motion Battle System). A key element of the main character's "gun/sword/hammer" fighting style is his ability to "weapon-shift" between dual swords, dual guns, or a hammer nearly instantaneously.
The game will ship for the PlayStation 3 console on November 1. Pre-orders will cost 8,380 yen (about US$105) and include the Tales of Xillia 2 Before Episode novel and artbook by the scenario writer, the alternate downloadable Ludger costumes (including Tales of Symphonia's Emil costume), and a custom PlayStation 3 theme. Buyers can also add an official Dual Shock 3 Tales of Xillia 2 X (Cross) edition controller for a total of 12,980 yen (US$163).
Namco Bandai Games also announced on Friday it will release the first Tales of Xillia game in North America and Europe.
