Singer Searches for Missing Life-Size Mazinger Z Hovercraft
posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
The super robot anime theme song performer Ichirō Mizuki is currently searching for a life-size replica of the "Hover Pilder" hovercraft from the Mazinger Z anime series that has gone missing.
The hovercraft was originally created for the 1997 "Robonation Super Live" event that featured Mizuki. After the event, Toei would loan out the hovercraft and would lend it as a present to fans via a lottery program. However, the whereabouts of the hovercraft are currently unknown. The hovercraft can float in the air, has moveable wings and decorative lights, and it emits smoke.
The Mazinger Z television anime series is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, and if the hovercraft is found in time, Toei plans to display it at a 40th anniversary event.
Anyone who has a lead on the whereabouts of the hovercraft can e-mail Toei at mazingerZ40th (at toei-video.co.jp), and anyone who provides a strong lead will be paid a reward.
Mizuki is known as the aniki (big brother) of Japan's anime music genre. He primarily performs for super robot anime and live-action special effects television series. He has performed theme songs for Mazinger Z, Space Pirate Captain Harlock, Voltron, and various live-action Kamen Rider television series and movies.
