NIS America announced on Wednesday that it would release the Atelier Meruru: The Apprentice of Arland role-playing game in North America and Europe in spring 2012. NIS America described the game as follows:
The tiny kingdom of Arls, located on the northeastern border of the Arland Republic, is where Princess Meruru calls home. Ever since she was exposed to alchemy by famed adventurer Totori Helmold, all she could think about was becoming an alchemist. With Totori's guidance, Meruru sets out to develop her home kingdom of Arls using the power of alchemy. On her way, Meruru will encounter new adventures, obstacles, mysteries, and friends, and discover what life is like outside the castle walls. How you choose to guide her through the advancement of her land will determine the final outcome in the tale of Atelier Meruru.
Atelier Meruru: The Apprentice of Arland serves as the final part of the Atelier role-playing games' Arland trilogy.
Gust released the game on the PlayStation 3 in Japan on July 23. The game originally shipped with a rating of A (for All Ages), but Japan's Computer Entertainment Rating Organization (CERO) retracted that rating after it determined that some of the game's graphics did not meet the rating's requirements. The game rating was then changed to B, for ages 12 or older, and Gust put further shipments of the game on hold until the rating was updated.
