Persona 4 Game Remix Album Tops Weekly Oricon Chart
posted on by Jennifer Sherman
Never More -Reincarnation:Persona 4-, a CD which includes remixed tracks from the Persona 4 role-playing game, topped the Oricon weekly album sales ranking chart published on November 1. Since its October 26 release, the album has sold about 27,000 copies in six days. The Boys by the Korean idol group Girls' Generation is second on the list with 21,000 copies sold during the week of October 25-31.
Shoji Meguro composed the original soundtrack for the 2008 PlayStation 2 game. Shihoko Hirata's "Pursuing My True Self" is the remix album's first track, and a version of the song was the opening theme for the first episode of the current Persona 4 The Animation television anime series.
Atlus' Persona 4 will receive a Persona 4: The Golden port to the new PlayStation Vita portable console in Spring 2012. The port will include a new character voiced by Kana Hanazawa, new animated footage, additional story events to interact with other characters in work and school, and new persona and costumes for battles.
Sentai Filmworks announced its license of the anime in September, and it will release the show on both DVD and Blu-ray in 2012. Persona 4 The Animation began airing in Japan on October 7, and The Anime Network is simulcasting the show for free at 3 p.m. EDT on Thursdays.
