Enterbrain's Famitsu magazine will reveal on Thursday that the role-playing game Persona 4 from Atlus will receive a Persona 4: The Golden port to the new PlayStation Vita portable console in Spring 2012. The game will feature Marie, a new character voiced by Kana Hanazawa, as well as new animated footage, additional story events to interact with other characters in work and school, and new persona and costumes for battles.
Atlus and Arc System Works (Guilty Gear, BlazBlue) are also planning a Persona 4 fighting game, titled Persona 4: Utimate In Mayonaka Arena, which will be released as an arcade game and as a videogame for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in summer 2012. The game will include characters from both the Persona 3 and Persona 4 video games. Confirmed characters include Persona 4's main character and his persona Izanagi, Chie and her persona Tomoe, Yosuke and his persona Jiraiya, and Aigis and her summon Athena.
The Persona 4 game shipped for the Sony PlayStation 2 console in July of 2008. Its predecessor, Persona 3, shipped for the same system in 2006 and inspired the Persona -trinity soul- television anime series in 2008.
Director Seiji Kishi (Angel Beats!, My Bride is a Mermaid) and the anime studio AIC ASTA are adapting the Persona 4 game into a television series. Persona concept designer Kazuma Kaneko, original character designer Shigenori Soejima, and musical composer Shoji Meguro are reprising their respective roles from the game for the anime.
