Exclusive: ANN Streams 'Sizzle Reel' for Onigamiden
posted on by Gia Manry
Anime News Network is currently streaming an official "sizzle reel" video for the 2011 anime film Legend of the Millennium Dragon (originally titled Onigamiden in Japan). The footage comes via Sony Pictures, who acquired the film this past June and premiered it at Anime Expo on July 1.
Produced by Studio Pierrot and directed by Hirotsugu Kawasaki (Spriggan), the story revolves around a 15-year-old boy who travels back in time — over 1,200 years ago to the Heian period — and faces a war between oni (demons) and humans in the former Japanese capital of Kyoto. The anime adapts a 2004 two-volume novel from author Takafumi Takada. The film opened in Japan on April 29; Sony will release it in North America on October 4.
Sony Pictures Japan streamed the original trailer for the film in March; in August Sony Pictures (USA) streamed that trailer with English subtitles.
