Fans Build Japan-Themed Lego Models for Upcoming Event
posted on by Gia Manry
In January, the Brothers Brick website announced that the theme for this year's collaborative display for BrickCon 2010 — an unofficial Lego-centric event taking place in Seattle from September 30 to October 3 — would be "Big in Japan." Since then, fans have submitted numerous photos of Japan-inspired Lego creations to the group's photo stream on the Flickr website.
Among these submissions are many representations of Studio Ghibli works, including Ponyo, My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service, Nausicaa, Spirited Away, and Laputa: Castle in the Sky, as well as a Lego bust of Hayao Miyazaki himself. A Lego form of Gō Nagai's Mazinger Z super robot and Akira's Tetsuo and his motorcycle had also been made, as well as Godzilla and representations of Japanese buildings and historical figures.
