Every four episodes, the opening theme is sung by a different set of seiyuu from the show and is played in a different music style.
While the lyrics played in the opening are always the same, the second verse of each version of the opening changes completely. [Proven by comparing the full versions of the songs from the CDs.]
Negi's name is actually a pun; Negi in Japanese means scallion, also known as green onions, spring onions or, vitally, Welsh Onions, and are also in the same family as the leek, which is a national symbol of Wales. He likes spring onion kabobs with grilled chicken, due to the fact that his name is in it. His nickname, "Negi Bōzu", is another pun since while "Bōzu" can be translated as "brat", "Negi Bōzu" literally means "Onion Head". Evangeline, being a vampire, hates green onions.

Ken Akamatsu, the creator of "Negima!", makes a cameo as himself at the end of episode 11.
The bear on Asuna's panties is similar to Sarah McDougal's panda birthmark from Love Hina
In episode 4, Negi tells Asuna that he is not 10 years old, but, "nine and three-quarters", the same as the magical train station platform in the "Harry Potter" book series.
In episode 14 when the cheerleader girls disguise themselves to hide from Negi and Konoka while shopping, Sakurako Shiina's outfit is almost identical to that of Kaolla Su, from Akamatsu's other well-known anime, Love Hina. The only differences being two colors are swapped. Kaolla has a red scarf and yellow hair. Shiina has red hair and a yellow scarf.
