This is definitely going to be a, "Wait until it's on sale, by a lot," purchase. Do definitely want to pick the games up but I'd hesitate to spend $60 on them, much less $75.

Really hope they port Chrono Trigger soon.

They're only producing limited quantities and the Switch version is already sold out, so you might be waiting a while for that.

already preordered the collectors switch version...that Vinyl sold me on.

im 80% sure ill enjoy replaying these 6 pixelated version of these games on the switch then going through FF 16...lately it seems they'd rather focus on graphics over story Sad and making everything overly convoluted.

That's assuming Lizuka's comment was about the physical edition, digital edition won't be limited.

No option to mod the font makes these unappealing imo

Possibly, although if that's the case, it's worth noting that digitally, they're all sold separately; and if they're priced the same as the Steam releases, the $75 bundle price is already roughly a 22% discount over their individual prices.

It's sold as a bundle on Steam, with 22% discount;
https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/21478/FINAL_FANTASY_IVI_Bundle/
so there's no difference...
And the article here says says at the beginning that they're sold individually or as a bundle, and doesn't make any distinction whether that applies to digital or physical.

About damn time this collection got a console port (although, where is the Xbox port?). I've been wondering if the pixel remaster was ever going to get a console port, and now our question has been answered. I'll get it whenever I get a good deal on the price for my PS4 (& possibly for my future PS5).

We don’t really know much about the entirety of 16’s story though so this is a rather dubious take especially when you remember all the games release over the last decade with paltry graphics and not terribly well written stories.

What are they making overly complicated?

all of this is imo, but regarding the 1st part i haven't enjoyed a FF game since 13 , played 13-2 lightning returns and 15 all of which were mediocre stories, hell i dont even know the full 15 story i only played through the vanilla base game refusing to buy any dlc stories. I'd rather keep my hopes low expecting the plot to blow me away given there track record for the last decade.

the second part is pretty much explained in the 1st. ff 13 ending is FINE , what was the point of adding two sequels that involved time travel and a human becoming a valkyrie....and with 15 you had to buy dlc to see the full story, it was such a horrible base game that all i remember about it was riding around in a car and somehow he also time travels ....

People can say whatever they want about the first six Final Fantasy games, but they are definitely worth their time, even if the characters are pixelated. For Pete's sake, we FINALLY have a proper presentation of the original Final Fantasy III and a proper redoing of Final Fantasy VI, the latter being of not only one of the best Final Fantasy games ever made, but one of the BEST RPGs ever made, period!

The Helvetica font was definitely an act of laziness on S-E's part. There are more than enough fonts out there that can be implemented to reflect the atmosphere of each game and yet, S-E just chooses to cop out on Helvetica. Rolling Eyes

If anything, I would complain about the need to recycle the overrated meme lines like "I, Garland, will knock you all down!" or "You spoony bard!" but these lines sell copies in the end.

I find it a bit weird that there's no mention of an Xbox version, I know many small Japanese developers tend to ignore the console, but companies like Square-Enix have given Xbox more support.

Let me get this straight 75$ for "pixel remasters" of Final Fantasy 1-6? Also given these are "remasters" of the original games only, there will be no extra content/bosses/dungeons found in the wonder swan/ps1/gba/psp versions as well?

May I can kindly ask a single single question? WHO THE HELL A SQUARE-ENIX THOUGHT THIS WAS A GOOD IDEA?!

Square doesn't care about the xbox line of consoles at all. There is no physical versions of Nier Automata or Kingdom Hearts 1.5+2.5 and 2.8 or Octopath Traveler on the system either, they're digital only. Honestly I'm amazed that Dragon Quest 11 got a physical release here.

Man, I STILL think the GBA and PSP versions are more worth the price!
