Princess Mononoke Subtitled

Possible Theatrical Re-Release with Subtitles
Studio Ghibli representative Steve Alpert spoke with audience members after Friday's Porco Rosso screening at the New York International Children's Film Festival. Among the topics he covered was a theatrical re-release of Princess Mononoke, this time with English subtitles. However, he only mentioned that there are "plans," and no date range was given.
When Princess Mononoke was theatrically released in North America in October 1999, only the English language version was made available to theaters. Buena Vista Home Video later announced an August 2000 DVD release that featured English and French audio tracks, but no Japanese audio track. Following a fan campaign, BVHE executives canceled the original DVD and released one with subtitles several months later, in late 2000.
