The goodlooking salaryman on the train, in ep. 1, is played by heartthrob Yamada Takayuki - a cameo appearance by the actor who played Densha Otoko in the movie.
The opening theme, both the music and the animation part, pays tribute to Daicon. The music part, "Twilight," is the same, while the animation, Getsumen To Heiki Mina, features a bunny girl similar to Daicon's but carries carrots instead of radishes.
The maid cafe Densha often pays visits really exists: it's Maid Cafe Pinafore, located at downtown Akihabara.
Rumor says the last kissing scene between Densha and Hermés took more than twenty times to finish the shot. Rumor also says Densha did it on purpose.
In the finale episode (11), while Densha was holding a figure of Matilda Ajan (of Gundam series) in his hand, the figure started giving Densha orders! Turned out that the voice actress of Matilda, Keiko Toda, guest starred as Densha's mother, who has never appeared in earlier episodes.
In episode 8, Dragostea Din Tei by O-zone is played in Kazuya Sakurai's cafe, and later sung by him while riding in his car. This song became a hit on the Internet after a college student recorded himself on webcam dancing and lip-syncing to it. It was commonly called "numa numa".
