Rie Kugimiya is such an overrated VA... Same goes with Kana Hanazawa. But that's my opinion, i really don't think their voices are anything special at all. Rie sounds the exact bloody same in every single anime.

Seeing Hanazawa Kana on the list isn't too surprising, given the fact that she was a Regular Appearer, appearing in a lot of shows from 2009/10 to 2014.
Kugimiya Rie still getting a lot of roles, but not like in the 2007-2011 years; she was Regular Appearer for those years. And as always, I have trouble differentiate between Hayami Saori's and Noto Mamiko's voices. Last edited by Hameyadea on Wed Nov 19, 2014 11:46 am; edited 1 time in total |

Come on, Kugimiya's role sound different. Just compare her tsundere lolis (Shana) with cute lolis (Liechtenstein), weird characters (Kagura, Happy), boys (Alphonse) or stoic girls (Nemu). Even Cure Ace sounds different than her regular roles. |

Who knew, Miyuku Sawashiro and Kana Hanasawa play a lot of anime roles. Anyone who watches a lot of anime has already figured this out.
And yes, my favorite Japanese VA, Miyuki Sawashiro, is on the list.
I agree that Kugimiya sounds the same on every role. But do not badmouth Hanazawa; she has tremendous range and can play all kind of roles (the same is also true for Sawashiro). |

Me, too. They really sound similar, even though it was said that Noto's voice was so unique years ago. |

Are you entirely sure on the number of roles? Because I went on Miyuki Sawashiro's page and counted roles. Number was 26. Or sequels weren't counted in this list?
Edit: nevermind, I think they didn't count movies and OVAs Last edited by KutovoiAnton on Wed Nov 19, 2014 11:43 am; edited 2 times in total |

Not the only ones. I always called Saori Hayami the "new Mamiko Noto" or "Wants-to-be Mamiko Noto" but this weeks episode of Inou Battle changed that for me. She's finally shown me what she has on her own. I still think Mamiko Noto is much more diverse though. Speaking of Mamiko Noto...wtf? I'd LOVE to see her in more roles and seeing her on this list confused me because I've hardly heard her in anything this year. I guess it counts if you include all her minor roles but I don't count those =P. Mamiko and Rie Kugimiya are tied as my favorites with Miyuki Sawashiro on this list. |

Mamiko Noto is in Akame ga Kills and stuff, and I liked her performance as the crazy Valkyria in Gokukoku no Brynhildr. |

Doesn't surprise me. Is it 100 shows in a year?
For some reason it doesn't feel like it. I don't know what it is. For males, I imagine Kaji, Matsuoka, Miyano, etc. |

I only think that Kugimiya Rie sounds the same in roles when they WANT her to sound the same. She has lots of range as many people have mentioned.
I wonder if she's doing less work because JC Staff is working on less anime than it used to? She's in a lot of JC Staff works. |

Seems like Kaji Yuki. Both Miyano and Matsuoka are quite far from him. |

Saori Hayami's popularity should only continue to grow at this rate after her latest demonstration in that Inou-Battle show. I predict that eventually she'll top the list one year.
I still like Rie Kugimiya but she can be brutally typecast like Saori Hayami too. If Saori Hayami's tendency is to be cast as the upper class kind of aloof girl that can go ballistic at the top of a hat and/or is just incorrigible, passive aggressive and hyper competitive. Rie Kugimiya's typecasting is the bratty little precocious tsundere, really young boy, or idol character. Both kind of have polar opposite qualities to their natural voice though with Kugimiya being all shrill and high pitched for the most part and Hayami being primarily low register and sounding crisp and refined with a vague hint of self-righteousness in there that I think is unintentional but leads to some people I've talked to not liking her cause "she sounds like a condescending bitch" . |

I like Miyuki Sawashiro. I don't follow seiyuu but there's a particular aural signature in her voice that I allows me to always tell its her. Some people have these kind of distinct characteristics that can't be changed.

Uncharacteristic of ANN to not link back to the original article? Or did they got it from print? Anyway I mentioned it only because the list go beyond just 11 roles and it goes down two more levels.
