This is the only Key game I would even be SLIGHTLY interested in playing.

Partially because they actually hired a competent character designer.

Err, no. They did not. Na-Ga and Hinoue (the two art directors that are also in charge of character design) have both been at Key for a very long time.

Well then, those two went with a MUCH more appealing style for the characters in this game.

Eh, some of the character designs are still pretty bad, like Komari and Haruka. They both suffer from the typical Key issue of the eyes being waaay too big.

I didn't mind Haruka (seriously, her appearance in some of the end CGs is just... wow). Looks can certainly be deceiving. Komari was probably my least favorite of the main girls. Kud was just annoying plain and simple, but I think she was one of the more popular girls (getting her own spinoff like Tomoyo did). In terms of terrible design though, Sasami has to be the worst, but I think that was intentional?
