"Viz licenses new manga? (05:27 PM EDT): According to an update on Amazon, there's at least one new Viz title coming out later this year. Listed as "Monster : Herr Dr Tenma", this would be the Monster series by Naoki Urasawa that's getting rave reviews in its anime form and is a completed manga series. Viz is notorious for not handling their licensing news properly so it wouldn't be a surprise that they do have the manga license. Of course, Viz also is known for tentpoling their properties if the anime is available and this could given them a potential edge in acquiring it." source - Animeondvd.com

I've been waiting to read some good news for a while now. Knowing that this is not 100%, I'm still excited with the possiblity of this series being released. I've recently started watching the television series and I've been in awe at how wonderful and mysterious it is. Hopefully we'll see this one the bookshelves real soon. If so, then I'll be picking it up as soon as it's in stock.

I haven't seen the anime series (since I wanted the story in its original form), but the story sounds fascinating and the manga won all sorts of awards in Japan. Awesome, if true.

About damn time (hopefully that is). Monster is great, much better than the anime. Hopefully this will open the door for 20th Century Boys (Urasawa's newest manga) to be licenced, which I find to be even better than Monster.

Too bad Viz is too lazy to say anything about it.
