Actually it's been announced that the R2 DVD boxset will be released: http://www.rakuten.co.jp/discstation/341672/412651/615030/639694/#527459

Yes, they have released plans. As mentioned, it's for the R2 boxset that's coming out.

It's about time!!!

Gundam X has got alot of bad press, mainly because of cancellation but I thought it was a fantastic series and probably my favourite AU series. The Japanese R2 release and renewed interest is good news for us as it means it is just that bit more likely to finally come out in the US.

It was interesting though that Jerry Cho didn't mention Gundam X when discussing further Gundam releases at AX. Perhaps he wasn't fully aware of Banda Japan's intentions with Gundam X?

I was wondering when Gundam X was going to be marketed stateside. I'd also say it's my favorite AU series and I'm really curious as to why it got cancelled. I would've thought G-Gundam would be less popular, but whatever Confused

ShatteredX, Gundam X was cancelled due to low ratings. There have been many theories as to why exactly. One definite reason is that around episode 26, the show was moved from a Friday afternoon timeslot to a timeslot early Saturday mornings. As to why it never took off with viewers, it's speculated that it didn't properly appease the appetite for more Wing (since X started airing directly after Gundam W completed) that fans had at the time.

Sweet, I wonder if Gundam X is next for R1 since Bandai will have Gundam F91 and Zeta Gundam out in November of this year. What are everyone's guesses about the next release after the next too?

Obviously, they'll finish up Seed in early 2005. I'd like to see Victory Gundam come to the states, since that show has an unique feel and direction vs. past Gundam series.

*edit*
Apparently, Gun-plus.com is saying that Gonota headlines thinks that ZZ Gundam is next for R1 since it has began being dubbed for English.

Actually by the time they moved Gundam X's timeslot, the cancellation was already decided. So that really isn't a reason for its cancellation. It's true that it didn't take off with viewers very well however, though the exact reason will never be known.

And Gundam X happens to be the last Gundam series left that's not on DVDs yet, so its about time it happened (though they are only releasing a boxset so they don't seem to think that it'll do very well)

You have bootlegs, my friend. You got burned by somebody.

Also, from what I've heard, the next Gundam series to be brought Stateside after Zeta & SEED is Double Zeta.

ok, first of all, you shouldnt talk untill you know what your talkin about because the box sets i have were made with permission from sunrise, and last that i heard sunrise doesnt do bootlegs, they are box sets made by a japanese dvd company, i have V and ZZ, and my friend has X, and they are official dvds, so you cant tell me i have bootlegs because they come in official boxes and everything, almost every anime site online sells them. Have you ever heard of FX the company that makes box sets of anime, well thats what this company does.
