I also wonder if any of the winners ever sell these one of kind championship prize cards. Even though they can't actually be used they're still highly sought after collector's items.

It just not worth it.

I am a competitive duelist that goes to things like Regionals and YCS so I can see why this card is going for so much. Heck Tour Guide of the Underworld is still going for about $150 a card.

Well Chaos is kind of back this format with Black Luster Soldier Envoy of the Beginning now Limited instead of Forbidden and Chaos Sorcerer sitting at 3.

I've stopped playing since one year ago but I heard that Rescue Rabbit's price is now higher than Tour Guide.

It's the top selling TCG in the world. Of course it's still around.

You'd think after years of collecting animation artwork that I wouldn't be surprised that someone would be willing to spend $5K on anything, but, yeah...still shocks me that someone would spend $5K on card, especially one where a couple of copies (likely still) exist. Granted, it's a limited print run, but still...
BTW, the free shipping thing is only for Japanese addresses. The majority of sellers on YJ do not ship internationally...hence the need for pricey deputy services.
(I shudder to think what the deputy commission rate would be on this item....at least a couple hundred dollars...)

C'mon, you could buy almost four fully-competent legacy MTG decks for that much money.
I suppose the shipping'd be more of a hassle, though

But the card's not legal. says so on the bottom.

Even if I were a giant fan of that card game, I can't really imagine any person just shelling all that money for one card.
But wow, I thought the card game ended a while ago, surprised it's still around. Last time I heard any news on the card game was nearly 5-6 years ago.

I can see big time collectors paying high prices for something so rare.

I'm not that surprised someone would pay that much for a card, when you consider also how much some people have paid for baseball/basketball cards.
