I loved Flower of the Deep Sleep, which I had bought solely on the merits of the unique art style alone. Color me surprised when the story turned out to be just as unique! I'm glad to see more of her work got licensed, even if it isn't at the same leve

I thought I was the only person to read this!
I have to agree that the story was too slight for two volumes. Its point, what there was of it, ws diluted when pushed that far. The art isn't hesitant at all. The combination of thick and thin lines is what gives the drawing energy and vibrance. And the "strangely proportioned bodies" are simply a product the mangaka' s style; lots of artists (famous ones, too) defy conventional proportion as part of a signature style. This doesn't mean that Kazumi doesn't need improvement, however. |
