I hope this helps a lot:
This is a topic i know a lot about. all right. there is an anime, yes very true. the anime is based on the card game. the game is really neat. it combines magic with a little bit of yugioh. The cards do not look like yugioh cards. the art is better. the game is a big hit in japan and is starting in america. if you played magic, then you would understand the rules of the game. it is very fun. i played it and i am building a deck for my cousin. he got me started on it. i collect yugioh cards but duel masters looks better. it also depends on the companies that are making the cards. wizards of the cost does duel masters and this company that use to do base ball cards does yugioh.

From what I've seen of Duel Masters, I don't like it. (-.-; sorry...)

When I first saw previews for Duel Monsters, I thought that it was some sort of prequeal to the actual Yu-Gi-Oh series...then I hear its the rip-off version of Yu-Gi-Oh. Which one is it?

It's not related to Yugioh at all, besides that both are based on/involve a card game.
I watched the preview and the card games are uneventful and boring. The few animations they have with the card monsters are completely out of place and just overall bad in my opinion. What makes it worse it that they don't explain the game as they play, so it makes the game seem even more uninteresting as all it seems to be is them plopping down cards.
The only (extremely small) redeeming quality of the show is that they break the 4th wall occasionally and personally, I find that amusing.

Well, I don't personally dig th CCG's myself (not since the original run of M:tG, when I was in 6th grade), but my brother like's 'em.
Too bad it's put out by WoTC, a company I refuse to give money to.

I thought it was hilariously bad in a DIC Knights of the Zodiac type of way. Sooo bad you just have to watch it.
The animation was especially poor, online Flash animation poor. Far from being 21st Century TV animation quality. The voices were even worse which is too bad becuase there was atleast 3 good voices actors out of 15 or so characters, but the diologe was just so badly writen that it was somewhat painful.
But I still watch it...

I kinda like when this happens, that people watch stuff even if it's bad or kiddy. Like I used to LOVE (and I mean LOOOOOOOOVE) Pokemon and from time to time I watch it just for old times sake, because we know that anime almost never gets old.
Oh and Tsukasa 1 please try to write correctly from now on, with capitals and everything. And previewing your post sometimes helps.

I like Duel Masters a lot. It's really funny half the time. The TCG is like a cross between Yu-Gi-Oh and Magic the Gathering. Well, the anime is really funny and points out a lot of the things they do in other anime series.

I finally saw it...Jesus, that was mind-numbingly awful. Save for the cute little "hay guyz, were a tv show!!!!111111" remarks, it had almost no redeemable qualities whatsoever. Bad animation, hideous character designs, poor story (if everybody overreacted like that when playing card games, my college's lounge would need riot police), and characters you only wish were forgettable (that long-haired sunglasses guy with the laughably long soliloquies was the only one I didn't wanna strangle about ten minutes in).
Unless animated card games are your thing, avoid this show like it was dipped in bubonic plague.

The only semi-redeeming quality I could find in Duel Masters was its comedy. Even that can be annoying because of how much they rely on it.

Actually, I've enjoyed the show. The dub team has turned it into a sort of parody of Yu-Gi-Oh. Seriously, any series with the line, "wait, the music cue just changed, something bad is about to happen*," can't be bad.
*approximation, the precise phrasing escapes me.

Dual Masters seems to be a parody anime. The characters joke about the dialog and animation on screen at times.
From Anime Insider, Dual Masters is about Magic: The Gathering. In fact, the orinigal manga had the charaers playing MTG. THough WotC changed it.

It's definetly not the best anime show I've seen on TV. But it's ok. When I have nothing else to do on a Saturday night at 7:00, I can watch it and not g0 100% crazy. Just 99.99% crazy
