If you've seen Trinity Blood then you've probably given a listen to its opening theme titled "Dress" by Buck-Tick. Recently, the Abingdon Boys School self-ttiled debut album made its way through my speakers.

And when I got to track 11. I got a sense of familiarity when I heard the song. The more I played it (fantastic song by the way). The more I became curious. So I decided to check out the 'almighty' wikipedia. I then learned that the song was originally done by Buck-Tick.

I failed searching for the name within the inner universe that is my mind and decided to search for Buck-Tick on this site. And wouldn't you know it, they did the opener for Trnity Blood. Usually I'd remember a song if I heard it in an anime but Trinity Blood was only on for a short time considering we only had a month of Razer TV in Canada where it aired.

I decided to go to the other 'almighty' site, YouTube and found the opener. And then it hit me, it was the same song and that's why it was so familiar even though I had no idea that the song was even a part of Trinity Blood. I listened to both versions and I can't really decide which is the better of the two.

A.B.S's version is more rock oriented and focuses more on the chorus than what's in between. I loved the part in between though because it starts out calm and then it sucks you in when they add the guitar and get things moving quicker.

Buck-Tick's version remains calm and gives me an old-school vibe that's simply enjoyable. So since I can't really decide (though I'm partial to A.B.S's version since I have it). What do you guys think given that you've heard both versions of this little song known as "Dress". Which one is better?

I gotta say I much prefer Buck Tick's version. Sakurai's voice is so deep and rich, and I like the darker feel to it.

I think that's the first Abingdon song I've listened to, and it's okay, but in my opinion it pales in comparison.

Eh. I greatly prefer the Buck-Tick version; the ABS vocalist is too whiny, and the song is really better suited to Sakurai's deep, soft voice. Also, I think the melody works better when the focus is more on the vocal and the background beat (I've got the Trinity Blood mix version). The more 'rock'-ish style just doesn't do it for me.

Of course, Dress is my favorite Buck-Tick song (after Gessekai), so I might be a bit biased :p
