Well, regardless of the review, I am enjoying what I've seen so far. Previously, Bamboo said in her Shelf Life column that the show doesn't try to be more than it is. A simple adventure series. I couldn't agree more.
As for the pacing, yeah it is a bit slow. Overall it doesn't detract from my enjoyment. I happen to be one of those "neophytes" to the CLAMP universe. I bought the Card Captor Sakura bundle back in January, but have yet to watch it. Very soon I plan to take an 18 day block of time and marathon it. I should be able to appreciate Tsubasa even more. I've read rumors and speculation that season three is cancelled. Are these just rumors? Or, has there been an official announcement? Perhaps it is only delayed? In any event, I've bought my ticket, and I plan to enjoy this (slow) train ride for as long as it goes. |

I had no idea what this series was about, so was surprised to see the Sakura gang in the series. Even more surprising was seeing Arashi and Sorata in volume one since they are my favorite CLAMP couple. Are there any CLAMP series that are not part of this CLAMP universe? My favorite CLAMP manga is Sei Den (RG Veda) which as far as I know has no crossovers in any other CLAMP work and stands alone. It seems that all of the other titles by them is connected somehow. I have seen a few illustrations by them that even have JoJo Jotaro in them since CLAMP has unofficially adopted him!

Loads of CLAMP series pop up in Tsubasa: Rayearth, X, Chobits, Angelic Layer, CLAMP School and of course xxxHolic. From RG Veda Ryuu-ou has shown up in several worlds, and there was a whole volume of the manga about Yasha and Ashura. Kendappa-ou and Souma have been in it and Ashura-ou has an important connection with Fay that's just coming out in the manga at the moment. I haven't followed the anime (I found it boring and the character designs aren't good) so I don't know how many of the crossovers are in it. The manga is far, far better. I have bought the first volume of the anime, though, because I wanted to see what the dub cast did with it. |

Good to hear that the dub came out well. I'll probably give this one a rental, although since I got bored with Noir and Madlax and I'm not a huge fan of CLAMP it probably isn't worthwhile for me to buy it...^^;

Slow is an accurate portrayal of dvd. In a series about warping around to worlds you would think they would actually want to show the cast going to alternative worlds but instead we get a pretty sedentary disc one. It' relatively inline with the pace of the manga, but as the reviewer states the manga makes it seem more interesting. I also have to say I think they dropped the ball with the minimal liner notes on who various characters are and where they are from. In the manga part of the fun is certainly recognizing some faces and then looking on the back of the manga to get more info on which series they are from and the like. Clamp uses characters from all over, so its easy to have someone look familiar but you are not sure exactly who they are. The anime dvd offers no such help.

if you check the Official JPN, NHK website that housed Tsubasa, there is a statement to the effect of: "Broadcasting is over, thank you for watching" A direct copy : "放送は終了しました。応援ありがとうございました。"So Season three disappeared to wherever abandoned seasons disappear to. IMO Season two ended on a suitable ending note. Not the best, not the worst, but a suitable note that can be considered an ending.
For all the statements surrounding pacing, yes it is slow, but you get used to that slow pace, or you just remain blissfully ignorant of it as you enjoy the art and the music. I think I simply got used to the slow pace. It's not meant to be fast paced... The slow romp through who knows how many worlds fits. They have a long journey ahead of them.. so what's the rush? Is what I think. Ahaha, just checked the Faq on the NHK - Tsubasa site: Q: Will a third season be broadcast? A: There are no plans to broadcast a third season. Well there is the answer on that. |

Well, I've only seen the first volume and I have to say that it does seem to drag a little bit but I'm still enjoying it a great deal.
As for the third season...well, if it doesn't come about and the anime is never finished, we will have the manga...if CLAMP doesn't drop it midstream like they've done with few of their titles. Maybe get a different director for the (cross your fingers) third season? |

I am not exactly thrilled with the dub. The name pronunciations, particular Kurogane, dirves me nuts, and spoiler[the use of "Syao" and "Syaoran" instead of "Syaoran" and "Syaoran-kun" (indicating the difference in relationship since Sakura lost her memories)] is annoying. I swear that the anime dub viewing audience are never given enough credit when it comes to understanding honorrifics and other terms like Takoyaki and Okonomiyaki. But the most annonying is the Kurogane mispronounciation (name pronunciations are a pet peeve of mine), especially when you listen to the cast auditions, and Christopher Sabat says it correctly there!
This is a good dub, but with a little extra care, it could have been a great dub. Vic has stolen the show so far with his performance as Fay. |

CLAMP has a record of usually FINISHING their titles. The only titles that were put on indefinate hiatus were X (X/1999) and Gohou Drug (Legal Drug) because of the dispute with Asuka, the publishing company for both titles (and they did say that they will come back and finish it). I hope there wouldn't be a third season, Bee-train got to be one of the WORST, if not the worst, anime stuidos out there. IMHO, they only made one decent anime and that was Noir. I saw some episodes of the TRC anime and I knew they were going to kill because those episodes were B-O-R-I-N-G and judging from the people who watched all of it, they downright hated it. I think the only people who would think it was in anyway decent either has a high tolerance of it and/or never read the manga. |

Well, whether i'm in the majority, or the minority(it doesn't matter to me), I really like Bee-Train's style. Noir,Madlax, the .hacks etc. So, for me, it's a definite plus.
IMHO of course

After reading the review, it is more to de-valuing the anime than giving it much praise. And the reviewer don't seem to know that Yuki Kajiura is a 'she' and he keep addressing her as a 'he'... hmm... I wonder if the person did realize that.
To me, it was also the first time I'd ever seen characters with 'long' arms, legs and bodies. But after watching it sometime, I just adapted to it... hahaha... I guess the problem is that the characters don't seem to have a 'figure' and to me the bodies seem to be the 'same'. I think the music is quite well done, even though I do find some part of the rhythm goes pretty close to Mai-Hime & Otome. I guess the problem would lie on how the director plan on when the track should come in and when should it fade away. I think it's still pretty ok for that. Overall, the comedy was fun and some good sub-phases used, but overall, it's kinda only gives the feeling 'Watch once and you're get pretty 'bored' to watch again' and again... (I would prefer to watch Mai-Hime or Mai-Otome again and again...) It just seems to lack of something inside for me to 'want to re-watch again'. But it did kept me glue to the screen, wanting to know what happen next and after that - that I got to praise it. Overall, The background drawing was very well done, Music - Thumbs up even there seem to be some similarity with other OSTs. Listen to the OST alone, and you'll know what I mean. I guess the problem lies on the people who plan on when the track should come in and which track to use. Drawing of the characters... - The figure do really need a lot of effort, but the faces are vert well done from my view Addictivity - It is pretty poor for re-watching it, but hocking me the first time is very well done, because of some mysteries. Well, hopefully it will make it over here eventually, but Funi hasn't even committed to Season 2 yet (at least not officially). As far as the slow pace, I'll admit it is easier to marathon than to watch piecemeal, and as far as Bee Train, I loved Noir and Madlax but I admittedly would have preferred Madhouse get this show (they did CardCaptor Sakura) or even Production I.G. (who did the Tsubasa movie and are doing the above-mentioned OVA). I'll admit I'm a CLAMP fanboy, which means I will buy this show with no regrets! And I like the box Funi made for season 1! |

Well I'd think fans wouldn't want a third season seeing how Bee Train is handling El Cazador De La Bruja awfully. Toobad since I admired their previous works. Tsubasa is better in the second season, the 1st season I thought was pretty bad while the 2nd season is more fun and makes the characters more enoyable.
On a side note, I really like Syaoran's japanese actor, does the english actor carry the same feel? Oh and this has got to be Kajiura's worst soundtrack, but maybe it's like the reviewer said and it's more the director's use of it. |

Glad to know I'm not the only one who thought it was slow-paced. I was thinking that maybe I'm just not patient. I think it's faster during the second season though.
