Fullmetal Alchemist (TV) Genres: adventure, drama, fantasy Themes: alchemy, Homunculi, military, steampunk, tragedy Plot Summary: After losing their mother, Alphonse and Edward Elric attempt to bring her back using the forbidden science of human alchemy. However, alchemy operates on the theory of equivalent trade, and breaking the human alchemy taboo carries a heavy price. Ed loses his leg, and Al loses his body. Ed is able to seal Al's soul inside of a huge suit of armor, at the cost of his arm. Years later, Ed (now with two mechanical limbs) and Al (still trapped in the armor) leave their childhood home, each brother concerned with the other's happiness. Ed, who has a natural talent and skill for alchemy, becomes nationally certified and is soon known everywhere as the "Fullmetal Alchemist." Their true objective is to search for any information on the fabled Philosopher's Stone, hoping it will allow them to regain their old bodies. All of their hopes rest with this mythical stone, which may not even exist at all. However, the brothers soon learn that they are not the only ones after the powerful stone. ---------------------------------- Anime Marathon Discussion (Nov. 6th, 2015 - Nov. 15th, 2015) starts here ---------------------------------- How can I delete or close any topics in this forum? If you really want to know; it happens in the last episode (so read at your own risk): spoiler[after Mustang defeats Pride. As he's leaving the building where they fought, Archer steps out and shoots him. But Archer, at that point, was half robot and I guess just grazed his eye.]

This may contains possible spoilers.
Upon finding out that Roy Mustang lost his left eyesight for the upcoming movie-length version of Fullmetal Alchemist, I also noticed that he seems to be a sad person in the movie version while the TV series he seems to be to have a normal feeling. If anyone knows please tell me. |

What exactly is your question here? Are you asking why Mustang has changed in character from the series to the movie?
I am going to assume this for now. I can kind of see your point, from a visual standpoint, but from a characterization standpoint (whatever you want to call it) I never thought Mustang was a 'normal' character. His character is very complex and he has a pitiable background. His resolve to go forward in life is a direct result of his history, especially his part in the Ishbaalan massacre. I felt sympathy for Mustang. Also, the fact that Mustang has been blinded in one eye might give him some relationship to Fuhrer Bradley. |

Unless I'm wrong and "Possible Spoilers" means you don't have to use spoiler tags. Roy Mustang had spoiler[an eye patch when shown at the end of the series. I think I remember Pride cutting his eye... or was it Archer when he blasted him after he got out of the fire?] |

Sorry, what I meant by relationship was that Roy Mustang became like Bradley somehow, that they got or will get something in common. I never got the impression that Mustang and Bradley were friends. Wasn't Bradley letting the unchecked aggression in Ishbaal go on, which led to Mustang's orders to kill *those people*? spoiler[And in the end, they were openly hostile, obviously not friends]
Sorry about the spoiler thing, but I didn't think it had been 'spoiled' that much

spoiler[ Roy was already depressed and sad and about to commit tabboo as seen in like ep 24ish. In the movie, roy was very sad and sad enough to vow to never use alchemy again . Eventually he came out of it and finally returned to normal at the end when he found out ed was alive.]

I read somewhere on the ANN Forums that the movie would be released sometime in the Fall, around October. But don't quote me on that. I have a really bad memory. |

Mustang became a seemingly "sad" character in the movie because spoiler[he had killed the Fuhrer, and been sent to the far north and is lowered to the rank of corporal. Basically, he will never be able to accomplish his goal of becoming Fuhrer himself. However, the burden that he carried during the series about the whole Ishbal massacre has been removed. He seems to be sad, but is indeed happy because he can live peacefully with himself now.]
as for his left eye, I dont think its permanent. |
