That's weird, ANN.
I was beginning to think you guys were starting to neglect to use the name "Sunrise" in your articles where it should be used, and were instead just gonna refer to them as Bandai something or other from now on.... BUT, I guess you'll only do that, for whatever reason, when you're talking about any anime series that Sunrise uploads to Crunchyroll. Source 1 - (ANN's news article concerning Sunrise's uploads of Gundam 00 on Crunchyroll.com) Source 2 - (ANN's news article concerning Sunrise's uploads of Code Geass on Crunchyroll.com) Source 3 - (Sunrise's Homepage at Crunchyroll.com) It really is weird that they (sunrise) don't refer to themselves as Bandai something or other when they speak about themselves at Crunchyroll and actually post links to their own Japanese website (not Bandai's), unlike the way you do here when Crunchyroll is concerned....... -_- Is the choice to repeatedly use Bandai's name, where Crunchyroll and Sunrise's relationship is concerned, a simple minded attempt to emphasize the fact that Bandai (not Sunrise) complained about Crunchyroll.com a while back, simply because Sunrise (an independent anime organization that grew to prominence on it's own strength with ABSOLUTELY ZERO ASSISTANCE FROM BANDAI!!!) has been a part of the Bandai Group since '94??? Because, that would be a pretty lame reason, on it's own, in many people's eyes. -_- |

Although both series were animated by Sunrise, their streaming on Crunchyroll was arranged through Bandai Channel. Crunchyroll's original press release described the arrangement as a partnership between Crunchyroll and Bandai Channel. Bandai Channel, Sunrise, and Bandai Entertainment are separate companies, but are all part of the Bandai Namco Group. That is why Crunchyroll's original press release mentions Bandai Channel before Sunrise, and why it quotes the chief operating officer of Bandai Channel, but not the head of Sunrise. (The Sunrise quote on Crunchyroll's website is simply the same corporate quote from Sunrise's website.) Crunchyroll's streaming of Code Geass and Gundam 00 was arranged through Bandai Channel, while YouTube's streaming of the same series was arranged through Bandai Entertainment. |

However, there is still something a bit off about referring to Sunrise as Bandai Channel in the Gundam 00 press release, with no mention of Sunrise by name. It comes off as if Bandai has struck a deal with Crunchyroll to stream "Bandai" anime properties. That is far from the truth of this situation, which is that "Sunrise" is uploading it's properties, only. Also, that so-called Crunchyroll "press release", you're referring, is actually only another ANN news article that comments on the real announcement that Crunchyroll made on this. - Crunchyroll's quoted comments didn't seem weird as they referred to their new relationship with Sunrise by mentioning... "Sunrise" by name. -The publisher content of the publisher pages at Crunchyroll are managed by the publishers. And the Sunrise page at CR reads Sunrise, not Bandai Channel or Bandai Entertainment. Thanks, again, for your help, Egan Loo. I'm just saying..... tad bit weird. |

Huh...so basically, it's just like we did with Pirates of the Caribbean? And has a ride been an inspiration for an anime before?

Here is the truth of the situation. The partnership is between Crunchyroll and Bandai Channel. Bandai Channel also manages the digital distribution of these Sunrise titles in Japan. Bandai Channel is not the same company as the larger Bandai company, although both (like Sunrise and Bandai Entertainment) are part of the overall Bandai Namco Group.
The press release (also seen elsewhere) was provided by Crunchyroll, and is not a news article written by ANN. That is why it is listed in the press release section and not in the news section.
While the publisher pages list each publisher's titles, Crunchyroll has not said that they are managed directly by each publisher. |

Looks like I just learned a few new things.
Thanks for clearing things up, for me, Egan Loo. |
