I think villainess isekai can be considered shojou of this era.

SugoiLITE leaked that this series would get an anime a year ago. You can't see it on Twitter, because he deleted all his Tweets from a year ago.
This isn't an isekai. It's a time loop villainess fantasy. |

It is not isekai it is a groundhog day show, isekai is when a character is reincarnated or transported to another world. These type of stories, the mc already has lived a life in that setting/world they just go back in time for a reset.

By the by, within the genre, I believe these kinds of stories where the reincarnator is merely rewinding their own time are referred to as “regression” stories.

Spreadsheet updated. Second-most-recent Narou title to have gotten an anime announcement, after Roshidere.

Shikimori-san is that you? Or Tokime, considering Studio KAI?
By the by though I do love me some Shoujo, Isekai, Reincarnated, Villainess, or otherwise. And nice to hear Ikumi Hasegawa. I can't hear Nobunaga and not think he's trying to imitate Yuichiro Umehara in similar roles. |

Synopsis says "reborn" instead of rewinding time? Not digging the MC's animation character design. The tone of pink in the PV makes it look... well, I honestly thought it was GoHands at first when she walked down the hallway. |

Right, “reborn” gets thrown around a lot, but it’s more like someone said above, a time loop situation where the person in question gets a second chance at life. Or in this case, seven. |

I'm a sucker for time loop stories and villainess stories so I'm all in. Has anyone read the manga or light novel? How does this one rank in the Villainess Pantheon (VP)?

I really like the novels, but Rishe's definitely not a villainess in any definition of the word. It's more that she's had a lot of really bad luck, even though she's smarter than the average heroine of a loop story. (And she has a wealth of knowledge by the time the main story starts!) But if we're comparing her to anyone in villainess anime, I'd say she's closest to Aileen from I'm the Villainess, So I'm Taming the Final Boss: she makes conscious decisions and works with what she's got. |

Some manwha/manga variations in the genre:
"The great Wish" Here the empress candidate, doesn't exactly regress, she dreams of a much older embittered version of herself and starts to question the motivations of her mother. "The one within the Villainess" EMI reincanates as the villainess of the book which she always thought was not evil but forced on that path by tragic circumstances. She decides to show how she have instead become the real heroine of the book and it works out till at the crucial point another reincarnator undo all her work. As her mind goes into a shock, the original villainess takes back control of the body and in honor of "the one within her" and swears to reverse the situation and to become as the girl wished. "Villager A wants to save the Villainess no matter what!" Eight years old boy, awakes its memories of his previous live and notice he is a mob character from a dating sim where the not very bright male targets turn a young lady into a villainess and provoke a civil war which destroys the capital where he and his mother live. |
