Talk about a lame excuse for plagiarism, that should have been translated as "mhh, I have no interesting ideas so I am going to rip-off a well known author". |

I'll fully agree that writing manga is very challenging and is not easy in the least, but plagiarism is probably the worst action you can do with all forms of entertainment, especially all forms of writing.
As such, this won't look good in the very least in his career and in fact, will look quite bad especially in the manga field. These days, it's not uncommon for a manga artist to actually face legal charges if plagiarism occurs (even accidentally in some cases) In general, plagiarism is bad no matter what form it in is. I've heard that some colleges these days may actually expel you after the first offense if found guilty. In addition, I also heard you could face some legal charges if the author of the original work is so inclined to approve of said action. As a person who has written several papers in the past and who witnessed a event similar to this in the past, I can only say, it takes time to write something "good" but at least that way, you can truly say it's your work and your work alone. |

Hey guess I'm writing a novel series about a young boy who finds out he's a wizard whose parents were killed by an evil wizard. When he's 11 he starts his wizard training at a wizard school in england called "Pigsbump"
Good idea? lol..... I don't get how people can even consider INTENTIONAL plagiarism. I know it's possible to have similar ideas though and that's just unfortunate sometimes |

I think that's a perfectly legitimate reason to plagiarize someone else's work. Similarly, I was in a hurry to start driving the car of my dreams.....so I just carjacked someone else who was already driving it. See? Problem solved

I would have to disagree. It is no secret that in manga, anime, book & live-action you often see the same ideas repeated over and over and over. But ideas cannot be copyrighted (if so White Wolf would have successfully sued the movie studio behind the "Underworld" flicks) and therefore that is not plagiarism. |

When it comes to plagiarism, look no further than Ikkitousen.
I ask you, HOW, did this series run for so long with so many anime sequels and shit, when the original manga was notorious for ripping off OhGreat's Tenjou Tenge? Entire panels were traced! And yet I never saw the creator of Ikkitousen apologize or get put on blast in the news ever for it. How do you plagiarize such a popular work from a famous artist like OhGreat, and make an even more popular series out of it? It makes no sense. |
