You can always visit their site and see they found quite a profitable niche for themselves.

Scummy practices, specifically over his handling of OEL manga and their creators.
There are other examples too (their handling of the Initial D & Rave Master anime, their manga quality, their old reality show that exposed Funimation in one episode, their illegal streaming of a fansub of Angel's Egg) but the OELs is what everyone goes back to whenever Tokyopop gets brought up in the news these past few years.

You forgot their light novels(Shana, Slayers, Crest of the Stars, Kino..), which they edited to hell and back to make them more 'appealing' as they saw it...

And then one day, Levy walked into the manga office and pulled the plug on all the running series regardless of status. Reportedly he said something the effect that print manga was too old fashioned and he had better things to do. A few years later TokyoPop comes back to the manga market and allows it is still viable after all. Dumping on the people who do buy your stuff and insulting them in the process is not the way to win friends and influence people.
