Oh please. These people would have strokes if they saw Kycilia Zabi getting blown apart by Char.

Could somebody tell me when this particular Gundam was made for children? Because the last time I checked I only know Gundam Build Fighters and Divers were the only 2 Gundam shows that were made with children in mind.

Overall, the complaint in this one is just ridiculous.

What is the point of this kind of posturing? Yeah, that shot is surprisingly violent for 0079 but the one in WfM is obviously much more shocking.

You don't even see anything besides blood in this case. Gundam used to regularly show pilots getting torn apart in their cockpits.

It started a tad earlier with Zambot's ending and IBO is way worse than WFM, the BPO just cannot handle a little splat.

I feel like my reaction is "I empathize and understand." It was shocking for adults who weren't thinking about children, too.

Yeah, torn apart for about a second where all the detail is blink and you'll miss it and it isn't focused on. WfM is just "a lot of blood" but is presented as a deliberately shocking unexpected event and then the main characters get the blood all over them.

This isn't the first time that a character has died that messily on TV anime. Evangelion did worse in one episode of the TV series where the berserk Eva-01 rips apart Eva-03 with way much gore than Suletta splattering the guy with the hand of her Gundam. Gundam Seed had several scenes where one weapon that caused a few dozen people to expand and explode like sausages. Not to mention the violence of Fist of the North Star. All these shows were daytime/early evening shows.

Apparently not shocking enough for the BPO to care, since it's already been proven that they sided with the production at the end of last month and didn't need to further deliberate on it. I guess you're just overly sensitive.

Keep in mind that was also 1979, where the television landscape was considerably different than today's day and age. Plus, that scene was from the movie and not the television series. So it wouldn't have been on broadcast TV.

For others wondering, there were other series that came into the crosshairs of viewers as well. Fukuda lamented about how Gundam seed went through issues with people complaining about children not using a crosswalk when mobile suits were attacking a city, the obvious implied sex scene, the girl test nature of bodies boiling and blowing apart, etc. I think one of his other projects even add viewers outraged that two individuals were riding a motorcycle without a helmet. And a license.

Gundam is a decades long franchise that is literally about wars. I don't know what the offended parents were expecting.

So they were much shocked and complained about "the slap" rather than spoiler[terrorists getting shot and killed and a certain character accidentally killing their father].

Detective Conan used to have their victim's eyes open after the murder. Parents complained and the eyes are closed now. Conan used to run at 7:30pm. No wonder they would complain about this.

Remember when people got microwaved in Gundam SEED very visually on screen?
