Ah, was hoping they followed the same design as the manga, oh well, it looks fine

I've officially lost track of those new animation studios. It's as if a new one popped up each month |

That's just what we need. Another stupid LN adaptation with a bland MC

That looks and sounds so incredibly generic.
Also, MC's design looks really different in the LN cover...? |

At least, it’s not an Isekai.

This reminds me of Chivalry of a Failed Knight and World Break: Aria of Curse for a Holy Swordsman. As said before, looks generic with bland character designs. Maybe the storyline is unique, hopefully.

It feels like it's just one degree removed from one, like the author didn't bother with the Isekai setup and just wrote a straight up fantasy |

oh boy, I was keeping an eye on this one, and nice to see it looks pretty cool. Very happy that Kodansha took a chance on Cloud Hearts (+Yokohama AniLab) for a production like this, so I think I'll check it out. I hope they do well!
Anyway, it seems the anime's character designs sort of lean somewhere in between Riko Korie's originals and the manga's aesthetic, which I kind of expected. For an anime, it definitely works, and I'm glad there's still at least some sense of moe to them (compared to the manga which leans further away from it). I'll place my bets on this one. It could be pretty fun. Even if it turns out to be a pretty basic magic school story, I like the look of the characters and am interested to see where it goes.
They know, lol. He has a unique look in each medium. |

I guess it was inevitable Junya Enoki would end up being the lead in this kind of show.
It looks fun enough! |

While I do understand your point, there's usually a difference. As generic as those magic school harems were back in the day, they at least were able to present a decent challenge to the MC.Generic isekai is a whole different beast. Leaving aside those like Re:zero which are actually trying to tell a story, the generic (xxxxxxx will do xxxxxx in another world with his xxxxxx) format of isekai is depressingly wimpy on that regard. Nothing is allowed to break the power fantasy, which usually means, you'd get more thrill by watching a robot play a RPG with all the characters in level 99. Don't take me wrong, this is probably going to be bad, but not isekai bad. |

What we really need is more Chivalry Of A Failed Knight as far as LN based fare goes.
