The official website for the One Piece anime stated the staff will announce more details about the show's schedule starting with the episode that will air on March 20 at a later date.

Of course this happens when chapter 1000 is about to air assuming the rest of chapter 999 is adapted on the March 13th episode then March 20th would have been 1000.

There wasn't a March 13th episode in the first place. The anime was on break this week already. Hopefully they get this fixed without delay though.

I'd understand if the hack affected episodes that were still not finished, but I don't get how it could affect the broadcast of this weekend's episodes, which were supposedly finished a while ago, since Crunchyroll and other streaming services are supposed to get them early so they can be translated and subtitled. Also, assuming the episodes were deleted last Sunday before they could get sent to networks and streaming services, don't they have off-site backups?

Hopefully this doesn't turn into a Sony Pictures type situation, I remember that hack like it was yesterday. Incidents like these should be a reminder of how scary cybercrime really is, people's lives are affected in dangerous ways, and some of the stupidest things people have said on the internet in the past could be exposed too.

I really don't care about that self-pitying anime youtuber who uploads entire episodes and then feels attacked when a corporation shut him down for copyright infringement. How is it that other anime youtubers don't get shut down???

On the other hand, I would like to understand how workers' families are affected by this, since I think most of those employees wouldn't be closely affected by these episodes' delays or by the hack itself. I guess if you said something stupid over e-mail like the Sony hack revealed, that's a lesson to be learned.

Toei made a lot of enemies for it's abuses claims/report systems on many platforms. They illegally claim copy-write violations on people just legally commentating on their work. We are not talking people sharing whole episodes or engaging in piracy. Toei will destroy your channel for simply talking about your love for their shows.

I think this happened because of the Totally Not Mark thing. Mark almost certainly had nothing to do with the culprit. They enacted vigilante justice. I disagree with the method even though I do agree that Toei's "Nintendo mindset" needs to stop with regard to people making videos of their content.

Toei should stop pushing frivolous DMCAs and claims against Youtubers where fair use is the law of the land, that type of behavior nets severe punishment on the internet even to beloved content creators.

Person A uploads Person B's content on YouTube. B claims it violates their copyright. It's not up to A, or even B, to determine if it's "frivolous" or not. It is up to the platform (YouTube) or a court of law to make that determination. But too many like to treat the internet like the wild west or the dark ages and apply bits and pieces of law incorrectly or half-baked and expect that by rallying enough sympathy by crying victim that the other side backs down.
