I'm surprised there hasn't been much push to popularize this business model. You go watch a movie in theaters, you really like the movie so afterwards you buy the disc in the same place. It's genius. The snack bar doesn't have to be the only money-maker for theaters. Maybe offer a slight discount for disc buyers who've also bought a ticket. It's win-win-win for everyone.

They've been doing this for almost all the Gundam releases. You see the movie and then you can buy it afterwards. They have other trinkets to purchase too.

They've done it with the new Space Battleship Yamato movies as well.

To be honest, I'd love to be able to buy a movie right after I've seen it in theaters, especially if I love it.
Might reduce the chance of me seeing it in theaters more than once, though, but I guess maybe the BD sales bring in more revenue than theater sales??

As they say, concessions bring in more to theaters than ticket sales.
In the same way, anime itself is more often than not loss leader for all the other stuff around it, at least in the case of late-night animation...

In Japan, they always have marketing ploys to get people to come back and watch in theaters multiple times such as stage greeting events, weekly entrance bonuses, etc.
