There is always something weird going on around Stan Lee. He's just a magnet for controversy.

Dropping the suit just makes this whole deal stranger.

So maybe he didn't drop so much as settle. Pow agreed it doesn't have exclusive rights and gave him his Twitter account. Meanwhile Facebook and Instagram are controlled by someone who is neither Lee nor Pow.
At least that's what I get from reading between the lines.
Maybe.

Settled.. or pressured into dropping it.

Most likely settled as most lawsuits tend to be. My guess that it was to scare Pow into giving Stan everything he wants to secure his legacy after his passing.

This isn't too surprising since the person who was likely behind the suit has finally be separated from Stan Lee. The Pow! suit was always a weird thing that seemed like another case of Lee being taken advantage of by his then lawyer/overseer. There is a reason why Pow! said they doubted Lee was behind the lawsuit.

Maybe they had so many rights to his name that they dropped it themselves.

It's cheaper to hire a hitman to kill him than pay that exagerated lawsuit. Where the hell did he pulled that price from anyway? He's way over his head.

This is all confusing, but I assume there are legit documents somewhere to explain what the heck is going on.
Lee dropping the lawsuit without mentioning a settlement makes it seem like this conflict will continue outside of the courts.

There is apparently an ongoing lawsuit filed by Lee's daughter as to who is to have custody / care of Lee himself. It is possible that Stan Lee may not have been the one making the decision to file and later withdraw the lawsuit.
