The animal people are called "Zyumans" from "Zyuland". It says as much from the Tokusatsu Network article.

Okay, before I watched the video I was all, "Really, they're doing an animal theme AGAIN? How can this possibly be any different from the last ten times?"

And now I know how: by making four of the rangers furries. WELL PLAYED, TOEI.

I know you were being facetious, but there really haven't been that many pure animal themes (I say "pure," because dinosaurs and mythological creatures, while technically being animals, are considered their own themes).

Pure Animal Themes
Liveman (Falcon, Lion, Dolphin, Bison, and Rhino)
Jetman (All birds: Hawk, Condor, Owl, Swan, and Swallow, with Eagle in the manga)
Gaoranger (aka Wild Force) (Lion, Eagle, Shark, Bison, Tiger, and Wolf)
Gekiranger (aka Jungle Fury) (Tiger, Cheetah, Jaguar, Wolf, Rhino)
Zyuohger (Eagle, Shark, Lion, Elephant, and Tiger)

Mythological Creature Themes
Changeman (Dragon, Griffon, Pegasus, Mermaid, and Phoenix)
Dairanger (Ryuu/Chinese Dragon, Shishi/Guardian Lion, Tenma/Pegasus, Kirin, Houou/Phoenix, and Byakko/Tiger)

Dinosaur Themes
Zyuranger (aka Mighty Morphin') (T-Rex, Mammoth, Triceratops, Sabre-toothed Tiger, Pterodactyl, and Dragon)
Abaranger (aka Dino Thunder) (T-Rex, Triceratops, Pteradon, Brontosaurus, and I'm not sure about what Killer is supposed to be)
Kyoryuger (aka Dino Charge) (T-Rex, Parasaurolophus, Stegosaurus, Velociraptor, Triceratops, Pteradon, Anklyodon, Pachycephalosaurus, Plesiosaurus, Brachiosaurus, and Spinosaurus).

Not Animal-themed, but includes motifs of some kind
Sun Vulcan had the characters named after animals (Eagle, Shark, Panther), but from what I understand, was more of a air/land/sea motif, as the costumes didn't have anything to do with animals.
Gingaman (aka Lost Galaxy) has a "Starbeast" theme to it, but it's just the mechs, not the Rangers.
Magiranger (aka Mystic Force) technically is magical-themed, but they do have Mystical Creature forms for the mecha (Phoenix, Garuda, Mermaid, Fairy, Taurus/Bull, and Dragon).
Goseiger (aka Megaforce) is, like Magiranger, technically angel-themed, but also uses animal/Mystical Creature motifs for suits (Dragon, Phoenix, Snake, Tiger, Shark, and Dolphin).
Go-Busters did the same as Goseiger with the suits, and their partners/mechs (Cheetah, Rabbit, Gorilla)

So, this is only the 5th "pure" animal theme, and one of the animals hasn't been done before (separating Mammoth and Elephant out).

Hmm, what about repeat animals...

27 unique animals/dinos/mythological creatures/etc.
7 (Bison, Cheetah, Dolphin, Mermaid, Pegasus, Rhino, and Wolf) only represented twice.
7 (Eagle, Lion, Phoenix, Pteradon, Shark, T-Rex, and Triceratops) represented 3-4 times (given what these are, it makes sense, they're popular).
2 represented 5 or more (5 for Dragon, one of which was specifically a Chinese dragon, and 6 for Tiger, one of which was specifically a Sabre-Toothed Tiger, and one which was specifically the Chinese mythological Byakko)

That's actually not bad.

The only thing you forgot was the animal influences in Go-Onger, the rest is all very solid, though.

I think the reason we eventually see this repeat, cyclically, as it were, is that it is a kids show, and by the time we get to a repeated them, it's new to the core audience, as that audience has changed.
