You know I just started watching Kino's Journey today and it might be what you are looking for. Its a damn good series by the way...I have been reading the thread on it that Past started and finally decided to see it.

I would suggest Serial Experiments Lain. However how much you can learn from it, I dunno. I've watched and I'm still trying to figure it out. Most of the Studio Ghibli Flims also have some sort of philosophy, or at least a certain message that the film tries to get across. |

The Patlabor movies are very heavy on philosophy.
Animated Classics of Japanese Literature also have stories bearing such content. There is also Wings of Honneamise, Winds of Amnesia, Urusei Yatsura Beautiful Dreamer. Then there are the really obvious high profile ones like Ghost in the Shell movie and Neon Genesis Evangelion. |

Other anime that I think have philosophy in it are:
Mushishi- very deep (and I mean bottomless pit deep) anime. Make you think until your brain feel numb. I really really like it though, but the most I can watch per day is about 1-2 eps. Or maybe it just me who is kind of slow to get things. Black Jack- another one with deep meaning. But not sure about philosophy. Uta Kata- magical girl, and hints of shoujo-ai and shounen-ai. Very cute anime, but spoiler[ the ending just tear your heart out ]. A lot of people might not get the philosphy behind it (I don't either), but there is a person who write pages on the philosphy behind this anime. You can find it by google it. That is all I can think of. |

Rah-Xephon
NGE GitS Mushishi Serial Experiments Lain Haibane Renmei Texhnolyze (sp?) is supossebly philosophical too since it came from the same guy as Lain and Haibane Renmei, but I couldn't stand how it was delivered in the first few eps and gave up on it. Welcome to the NHK I can't think of many more off the top of my head - but they are out there |

I think eureka seven would fit in this catagory with NGE and Rahxephon. Also I guess Ergo Proxy could be considered philisophical too.

Sorry, we're still not doing recommendation threads. If you want, you can take the suggestions already made and ask about them one at a time. But no asking for a random list of titles right now.
