What I'm curious and just wondering about, is Rumiko Takahashi's new anime/manga worth getting? I've bought mos of the manga, but I'm hesitant to get all the DVDs. So, basically, is Inu-Yasha worth teh investment or does it pull a Kenshin and get boring after a few plot arcs?

The anime does follow the manga quite closely (although it does take some liberties here and there from time to time) so if you like the manga then there's a good chance you'll enjoy the anime. However, I recommend watching some episodes first to see if you really want to commit to it.

Personally, I love the show and I'm investing in the DVDs. You can get them really cheap at Best Buy for $5-$7 off each one. Laughing

But its only worth it if you cant get CN or cant over look the minor cuts and less than stellar dubbing. Otherwise you can just watch it for free. Only reason I'd get the dvds was if i cared enough to jump ahead to what are supposed to be the best parts of the show so far (eps 100+), but i dont so ill wait another 4 months after the next set of eps finish until they bring on more.

Well, like arxane said, if you like the manga, you'll probably like the anime. If you have Cartoon Network, you really should check it out. If not, then I would recommend that you pick up a DVD containing a certain part that you liked from the manga, when Inuyasha first turned human with the spiders, Miroku's entrance, Kikyo's revival, whatever and base your future opinion off that. If you like it, great! If you don't, then you have a good scene on DVD.

If you're worried about the small fortune it's going to cost, then you could pick them up in small box sets of 3 DVDs for $49.98 instead of individually. (Well, since one set (1-3) is coming out, I'm assuming that they'll continue to do this onward... but eh, you never know for sure) If you can find a discount on top of that, it's even better. For example; Amazon has this 25% discount off the preorder, which makes the $49.98 price drop to $37.49 which is about $12.50 per tape. I know it isn't marked, but this has got to be it.

Don't worry, other people are going to go poor with you! lol Wink

With apologies to the Saotome Anything-Goes School of Martial Arts, IY is Rumiko Takahashi's most complex and invocative work and is animated very well, so it's worth that long-haul collecting endeavor that has become almost obligatory with Takahashi titles (just my humble opinion Wink ).

Also; It's definitely worth getting on DVD as long as one can be assured that it will be possible to collect the entire series. ...There's nothing worse than getting half way through collecting something and then getting stuck because the label drops it (unlikely in this case), or the stores stop carrying it or some other reason. Mad

I don't know about that. Compare to Ranma, at times Inu Yasha is alittle better, but this is all on taste. If you like action, you might love Inu Yasha. If, like me, like all the above, Inu Yasha will get boring after awhile. "What, they are still after that dang jewel pieces and only Ep 110!?" I like the series up a couple of epiodes past spoiler[Demon Inu Yasha], but after that, it just got boring. But, I will keep my eyes on the series, who knows what well happen toward the end.

I've seen up to 106 fansubbed, and I will contiue watching the series fansubbed simply because after getting this far in the series I might as well finish it. Lately (the last 20 eps or so) I have only been able to watch 2-3 eps at once. For me this is unusual. When I enjoy a series I will usually watch 10+ eps at once. I just can't get drawn into the series like I was earlier in the show. Basically what I am trying to say is that, it is a good show, but not worth paying $20+ for 3-4 eps when there are 121 eps in the sereis and it is still going on with no end in site.

I'd get the manga, though the anime is good too. It's just that it's a very long series that will probably not end for a long time.
