I always thought his art style was a bit goofy.. always seems like he draws one eye on the forehead.

Everything he draws is at an angle, and his angles are very...stylized.

I wish Ring ni Kakero and Fūma no Kojirō were in English. There's a criminal shortage of his works that have been translated.

Unfortunately, Saint Seiya arrived onto US/Canada TV too late, and was badly brought over at that. Then Viz's release of the Seiya manga never sold well, & TokyoPop's release of B't X did even worse. We know that ADV wanted to release all of Seiya TV, but we don't know if it actually sold well, & Illumitoon essentially killed B't X TV's chances at ever being given a solid release. I asked Discotek at Otakon if they were willing to do more Kurumada since they couldn't do Seiya TV, after New Video picked that up, and their answer was essentially "not likely". It's amazing enough, honestly, that CrunchyRoll simulcasted The Lost Canvas & is still doing Omega.

The main problem is that Saint Seiya is essentially all people think about when Masami Kurumada's name is brought up, and hardcore Seiya fans in particular don't help as they only seem to want more Seiya (personally, I consider myself a Kurumada fan than just a Seiya fan). As it is, I could maybe see the Ring ni Kakero 1 anime eventually get streamed via CrunchyRoll or Daisuki, & B't X maybe could happen over at Daisuki, but that's a big "maybe". Fuma no Kojirou has even less of a chance at happening as the anime for that is an Aniplex title (the company that handled the DVD release became Aniplex), and Aniplex doesn't seem to be interested in doing anything with their old catalog at the moment.

As for Kurumada's manga? I think we're extremely lucky that Viz is even giving Saint Seiya a digital re-release, because that's all it comes down to: Viz. Just about every Kurumada manga belongs to Shueisha in one way or another (they've even re-released B't X, which was originally a Kadokawa Shoten title), so Viz is the only possible company to bring it over, short of Kurumada courting a publisher himself (like what that one manga-ka did with one of Vertical's recent licenses). The stuff that Akita Shoten publishes will probably never get picked up, either, since no bookstore will likely want to carry any manga with the name "Saint Seiya" on it.

Trust me, I want more Kurumada stuff to come over here (hell, I'm the guy who gave ANN the tip for this news story), but I also have to accept reality here. I'll keep asking for Ring ni Kakero 1 to come over to whoever I can ask, because asking can never hurt, but I'm expecting much to happen from it.

Oh, and the shirt looks really cool. Too bad it's so much & I doubt Akita Shoten ships worldwide.
