ADV Films is having one of their sales from August 31-September 5.
This is how I purchase my anime. I download a lot of fansubs, wait until a sale, and BAM! Blow several hundred dollars in one big wallop. If you're a large dollar purchaser, these sales are great. Some of my new additions are going to be all the Divergence Eve & Misaki Chronicles, all the Gravion, Burn Up Excess, Chrono Crusade, Full Metal Panic Fumoffu and more. Sale Link: http://www.advfilms.com/sale.asp Anybody else buy their anime like this? I'm pretty patient and am a sucker for the word "SALE!". |

Umm...I already mentioned this in the Retail sectionlast night. This is the second time someone started a thread about this sale after I originally mentioned it. Last edited by biliano on Fri Sep 01, 2006 10:57 am; edited 1 time in total |

The bundle sets are what really grab my attention. If I can buy a whole series inexpensively, I'll pick some anime themes I don't normally watch. That way, I can burn my brain with an extensive marathon session.
Example: Get Backers Season 1 Bundle ($48.00) Get Backers Season 2 Bundle ($48.00) You could shutdown your life for days with this If anyone knows of other distributors that have sales like this, post the link. |

Yeah I responded in the forum for retail but I finally picked up Angelic Layer. It was $25 for the thinpack. I wait around until I find a sale. Right Stuf offers a lot of great sales too.

Sorry, but I rarely stray from this forum as I have little time to surf around. I'd hazard more people would see this here anyhow. If it was already posted here, I missed it. Regardless, sales like this are great to get new people into anime either as gifts or sending them to the respective site. I'm thinking about buying the box set of Noir as a gift for an up and coming member of the Church of Anime. |

Because I posted it in the Retail section of the forum yesterday, which is in accordance to Rule #9 of Teh Rules:
I'm surprised the mods didn't lock this thread yet. |

Just so you guys know, if you're buying the ADV thin pack collections they DO NOT have the extras on them. They only put that on the normal dics for the most part. They said it was basically a bonus for those who buy the single volumes.

First, biliano, I'm technically NOT breaking the ever-glorious rules since I'm NOT engaging in commerce or in the employ of any organization that is engaging in commerce. I'm merely being informative and attempting to prompt some discussion regarding buying anime. Thanks for being the "rules Nazi" though.
------------------- psycho 101, I didn't realize that about the thin packs since I rarely watch extras, but you mentioning it makes me want to go back and check the extras (I always find something nifty in this forum). I prefer to buy the collector's box sets with the individual disks, but my collection is a madhouse of thin packs and boxes. |

It's not needed to have two of the same thread. And we really don't need extra threads that don't belong in the anime forum.
Your lost if you only stick to this forum, the retail forum while it rarely see attention when it does it all good, much like boxset deal from DDD, and other post concerning sales.....like rightstuf, whom always seems to have a new sale or special everyweek. |

I picked up the bundles for Yumeria and Slayers personally. Don't know if it's all that great of choices but oh well, I was just looking for some cheap entertainment anyway and I've seen most of what ADV has to offer there already, at least the good stuff anyway. I was hoping they'd offer up Burn up Scramble since that's the only Burn Up series I haven't seen but no.

Noir and Rah-Xephon thinpacks still have them. I beleive there are a couple more that have the extras in the thinpack form as well. |

You won't see Burn-Up Scramble on the ADV sale because Scramble was licensed by Geneon. |

You are technically right, but he might not have seen that and didn't know, and he's not advertising for himself. In the end the mods will probably lock it because of duplicality, but that is up to them.
And you're being real nice to him with this. |
