To be clear, a hundred or so of that is the main story; after that, they've all been gaiden, various side stories and prequels. Since the main story is done, I could easily see new authors writing stories in her universe.

I'd love to see this series get a more...affordable release stateside. The first five books released by Verticle were great (I read them through the library) but at $10 a pop, well, you do the math. Additionally, they're each quite short, as this is technically a light novel series, and the first 5 were about as long as a standard fantasy novel in America. I know there are extra price concerns with translation etc. but maybe an ebook format could cut down on that?

I still have nearly 110 volumes left to read to catch up... D:
I stopped reading the 22nd volume the day the author passed away, as I couldn't continue reading without crying over the author. I also put the anime off until a little while after it finished. I've yet to pick the novels back up, but I was so engrossed in them at the time...
