Well, I guess that makes sense since he is probobly the most popular manga-ka within the American comicbook community. Given DH's close relationship with him it was only a matter of time before he made a US appearence.

Oh my God. I almost want to brave the 40,000-strong horde in the hopes of getting my copies of Offered signed by the man himself.
The most terrifying thing about Kazuo Koike is that he's successfully deceived the world into thinking he's NOT completely insane. American comicbook fans and manga fans alike praise Koike for presumably being an auteur of grand literary merit, often citing things like Lone Wolf and Cub, but in fact he's by far and away the most entertaining crafter of trashy pulp/grindhouse fiction working today. It's not an exaggeration to state that Koike is probably the single most respected manga author currently alive, a feat made all the more impressive by the fact that he does not draw the artwork in any of his stories, the best of which follow a basic template of "violence, sex, repeat." But face it folks, the man's a lunatic. A glorious, wonderful lunatic. May as well throw in an utterly shameless plug: we spent quite some time talking about Koike and his blessed insanity with Patrick Macias, co-author of the soon-to-be released books Otaku in USA as well as Japanese Schoolgirl Inferno. You can listen to it here: http://animeworldorder.blogspot.com/2006/02/anime-world-order-show-7-kazuo-koike.html |

It's always the left-coast though. ; What's wrong with Texas? We're practically the Ellis Island of Anime. |
