Check out Kodocha. Although it's way too long at 200+ episodes, it's a fun comedy/romance shojo romp and one of my favorite series.

Well, I haven't seen that much, so I can't really make comparisons, but the one that I have seen was Love Hina and thought it was brilliant, really funny wacky/random stories each episode, with some great unique characters. One of the thing I really liked was that there was alot of spoofs of other popular anime storylines, that just fit really well the characters.
Again, I'm no expert in the genre, I mainly enjoy more 'mature' titles, but Love Hina just jived real good with me ![]() |

One series that you might want to check out is Marmalade Boy. It's a little older (mid-90s), but it's got all the classic shoujo elements--love triangles, love squares, love pentagons, extreme amounts of (melo)drama, and a fair bit of comedy, mainly coming from Yuu's teasing of Miki. You say "shoujo," but the first four titles on your list (Midori Days, Ichigo 100%, Suzuka, and Shuffle!) are solidly shounen titles--other titles within that genre you might like include Love Hina and Ai yori aoshi; both have the setup of 1 guy living with multiple girls + fanservice ensues. LH is more comical, with fantastical events involving ghosts/mecha/sci-fi/super sword techniques, while AYA is more realistic and serious. |

Thats odd, I thought I had already posted here. I am getting old, heh. I suggest chobits, as well as the slightly old but still rather funny with plenty of romance, as well as some fighting, Fushigi Yuugi. Be warned, it is rather long. Also, if you do not mind some action with your comedy / romance, I also suggest Mahoromatic, I found it blended all 3 genres well. Somebody already suggested Love Hina and Ai yori aoshi, both of which were amusing. Please Twins, imo, was rather funny, as well.

If you don't mind dated animation, then I'd fully suggest Maison Ikkoku. It's about a ronin living in a run-down apartment building who falls in love in the new live-in manager. There are love triangles, and a good mix of comedy and drama. I haven't seen all of the series you listed, but it would seem the series would best compare to Suzuka in terms of how the story is set up. So that should give you the general idea.... I think you'd like it.
The story takes place over the course of like five years and logs in at a hefty 96 episodes (plus a movie), so the series requires a good commitment. Since I've seen this series, I've used it as a benchmark when watching a new romance series, so that should tell you atleast how good I thought it was. |
