This is indeed good news for those that have been constantly asking for it. I will have to pick this up on bluray.

YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES. BLU-RAY AND OVA! [Mod Edit: While we aren't completely opposed to images being used so long as the image isn't the entire post, please at least reduce the size as on small monitors giant images can break the page formatting. - Keonyn] |

Since people are likely going to ask, here's comparison shots between the ADV DVDs & Japanese BDs.

I already own the original ADV releases with the artbox, and while I have been known to double and triple dip on titles (typically because of a later released special or remastered edition), Elfen Lied isn't a title I was planning on repurchasing at any point. If this set is reasonably priced, then I may buy it just for the OAV, but I'd definitely be looking for the absolute cheapest price out there.

When you consider the age of the show, that is a really noticeable difference! |

I always wondered how Elfen Lied was so plentiful when ADV is long gone. So Section23 releases it themselves?

I think I'll double dip for this. I think the four singles only cost me $20 in the first place. So to get the OVA and BD seems worth it to me. Still one of my fave titles.

Bad news: I'll have to buy this again.
Good news: I'll be able to get the OVA and a Blu-ray and my niece will get my old DVD copy. |

I'm incredibly happy to hear this. I was worried it wouldn't come out on bluray till after I bought it on dvd. So I've been holding out for awhile.

ADV isn't technically gone. They've just sold off most of their assets. They still hold the license to Elfen Lied. Section 23 is just distributing it, like they so for Sentai and Switchblade titles. |

This announcement is just stuffed full of win. I do like my current set, but getting it in BD *plus* getting the OVA is too good a deal to pass up. And since this isn't Aniplex, I'll actually be able to afford to buy it.
Thanks, Section23. |

Awwww crap, this is a no go for me. As I have the original sets and won't be able to get the OVA unless I donate my volumes. Hmmm...I have to think about this because I want a complete collection.
