Just FYI everyone, I have confirmed with Bandai this afternoon that the first DVD and BD volumes of K-On will in fact be 100 Minutes and contain Eps #1-4.

The previous announcement of 66 minutes was a typo on their retailer mailer. If you see it listed on other sites at 66 minutes that is not correct.

We're offering both the K-On DVD and BD for 40% off MSRP. Cool

Aw, shameless plug is shameless. Guess we all gotta eat, though, so I'm not mad at ya. Laughing

Anyway, luffy should be pretty happy about this. I'm not a fan of the show so I won't be buying, but that's the lowest price I've seen anywhere so far. Surprised

Totally shameless. But Iowa seems to get theirs in often enough, time we did too. Wink

Why bother with region restriction on the BD? Not even Kara no Kyoukai has it, even though Rightstuf isn't allowed to sell it anywhere besides Canada and US of A.

We actually haven't gotten confirmation on the BD region, I'm waiting for a reply from Bandai on that. Bandai's mailer actually didn't specify what region encoding the disk will have. Until we get clarification on actual region we will leave it set it to 'A' on the store site to be on the safe side.

Hey Bob - thought I'd mention something that may or may not be of interest to you. In the past two years, I've dropped about $5,000+ at TRSI on (mostly) anime and manga compared to only one modest order from you (the Ryuk bookends which I'm very happy with, by the way). The overwhelming reason? TRSI offers free shipping to Canadian customers if they order $150 or above worth of stuff. This generally makes them the best buy for Canadians. Any chance of you implementing something similar in the future? I wouldn't mind spreading my business around and I like the cut of your jib.

Most of our current Canadian customers don't use our economy Canadian rate, they use our FedEx International Priority service so they get their orders in 1-2 business days. That's probably only because the customers who want their stuff really fast trend to us.

We are looking at a free shipping deal for Canadians, though I don't want to elaborate on it at this point. I think BRAND X uses a 'freight forwarder to mail service' for economy Canadian. It's slower but allows them to ship multiple parcels at a single per lb rate. We've been talking to various carriers to see what sort of rates we can put together. It will depend on if we can put something together that makes sense for us and doesn't need to be subsidized by other customers. We already posted phase 1 of our new shipping rate structure, and I'm hoping to have a decision on a Canadian free shipping option soon.

Just an update, the producer at Bandai has confirmed for us that the K-On BD will be region coded 'A'.

Whoa, that would be tremendously cool. I'll keep my fingers crossed. Naturally, I understand it has to make financial sense for your business to do something like this. Personally, I don't mind longer delivery times if it means free shipping and there's absolutely no question in my mind you would get more of my business if that was an option for me.

Point taken. Like I said, not mad at ya. Laughing

But once I think about it, I'm a relatively new+young anime collector compared to pretty much everybody else around these parts, so I'm not to savvy on many places to get my anime. I don't think I've ever scoped your site well enough--think I'll get on that right now. Surprised

Thank you Bob. You have my pre-order.

Be it a blue case, lossy audio, lack of extras, or all the above, that price is too good to pass up.

*looks at K-On prices on RACS*

Bob....I've been a major major fan of yours, dropped thousands upon thousands of dollars at your store. Just looking at that price made my smile a mile wide. I've wanted to drop a email on you guys for a while now, but hearing this news, while the ep count makes me cry a bit, this just cements you as my #1 online retailer. You should totally post here more often, just to give us heads up on new developments and your take on various business moves.

This is good news. And yeah, free shipping for CAD orders at RACS would be nice. Charging like 12 bucks to ship a dvd is not cool. Laughing....I remembered I ordered a volume of Ergo Proxy at msrp, and with shipping and exchange it came to like $53 CAD Anime hyper.

Bleh, only 4? That's a giant dinosaur-sized step back to singles which pretty much means that I will either Netflix it or wait until an Anime Legends or whatnot collection to watch it. Most disappointing indeed, Bandai.

It is a nice price you have there, but I just disagree with how they're releasong it and don't feel like supporting it.

Holy Batmans, Batgirl...

That's a helluva deal.

If you can provide the same deal for the Durarara DVDs, and...maybe Kara no Kyoukai, I'll not only buy it in droves, I'll rain angels.
