Wait. Is this for the Adult Swim version? Or the DVDs?
I'd assume DVDs, except these things seem to usually pertain to the tv versions. That's why I'm confused. =/

Yeah, Kyle, I don't understand the title change in Episode 1 either. How can you challenge the Sun?

Regardless, it's a petty thing to complain about. "Oh my god, they mistranslated the title! WHYYYYY?!"

I understand reporting it, but not overblowing it. Ditto. Then again, if you read most of his "Edit List" reports he's pretty consistent.

Using the uncut DVDs to see what was altered on Adult Swim.

For one, it's a needless change... especially given the context of the first episode. The original title puts the focus on those (Ed and Al) who challenge the Sun (Sun God Leto and Cornello).
The title of an episode can set the tone for what you are about to watch... changing it needlessly can impact that. On the surface, it may seem petty and minor - and in most cases, that's all it is. The question is, why do it at all, unless it must be done because it's absolutely necessary?

It's good to see Kyle come back from the dead, even if the one thing he spotted was for the "things we shouldn't care about" pile.
However, I'm willing to bet that there are more pertinent edits along the way.

OMG, CN totally kill FMA and all its fanbase with that edit. The whole impact of the show is lost, now that the title is edit.
Seriously, it's an edit but it's not something to complain about. It doesn't have a big impact on the show and we can already assume who's going to challege the Sun.
title 1:Those (Ed and Al) Who Challenge the Sun.
title 2:To Challenge the Sun (we still assume it's Ed and Al).
Conclusion: Same shit, stop being anal about it.

I've been wondering why they didn't use Melissa as OP1, even though I do like Ready Steady Go better. Oh well, it doesn't make that big of a difference.

In regards to the title, couldn't that be considered a correction made on the DVD rather than an actual alteration made to the TV version?

Probably. Also in one episode they pronounce Riza Hawkeye's name as "Liza." After the ep aired Lance said they were sending AS a replacement digibeta.

Hate to break it to you.
It means the exact same thing.

No it doesn't. It's close enough that you can get the same thing from either tho.
to challenge the sun - a verb (the act of challenging the sun)
those who challenge the sun - a noun (the people who perform that act)
Close enough, and not worth complaining about, as edits go, but they don't mean exactly the same thing.
