Well that's all she wrote I guess.

Sort of wanted more Familar of Zero in the US but I guess it;s not too big a loss for me. I feel bad for the Higurashi fans though. Just one blow after another....

Well, that's a bummer. Expected though, sadly.

While this does bite for a dub release, there is always that slim chance they could be licensed and released subtitled-only by Sentai Filmworks just like the rest of Hell Girl. So fans can always hope for that.

I've been thinking that for a while now. It was obvious Funimation wasn't interested.

I also liked

Almost seems a real dickish way of putting it. xD

Of course FUNi doesn't want it. There's not enough "boobies ftw" material they can peddle. I'll hold out hope that Sentai pulls a Hell Girl with Higurashi >_>.

I can't say I'm not disappointed, but this isn't the first time this has happened to me. I was one of the ~500 who bought Big Windup at full retail, and I was very disapointed to hear the second season wouldn't be coming to the U.S. - the dub was actually quite good.

While the When They Cry anime weren't the best adaptations, they were what got me in to the series, and because of that I like them.

That's a shame for both shows, I too enjoyed both of them. I'll second the notion, or request, for Sentai to pick up subsequent seasons. You would think Sentai could put out their sets that seem to generate enough sales to make it worthwhile.

Man this blows. Higurashi is one of my favorite series and I was holding out hope that they might release more of it. (Even worse for me because one of my other favorites series is Big Windup! I just can't win apparently). At least the Higurashi manga is still being published.

Agreed. It does come across kinda dick-ish. And Umineko... Anime cry

No kidding. Did they have that terrible of an experience with the shows or something? I mean...that's just blatantly offensive. And what do they mean by "even a minor resemblance"? Are they referring to the level of gore? The moe element? Something else? Evil or Very Mad

If anything it's there weren't enough "boobies ftw" for US consumers to buy it. Poor sales, not show traits, are why they aren't continuing it.

As far as Sentai, I think it totally depends on the sales of the Hell Girl series. If those did well for them, maybe they'll grab this. If those tanked, I think they'd be hesitant to pick up the remnants of a series that was a commercial failure for another company again.

Kinda glad my Higu and Zero discs are from the Geneon produced versions, but that also means that people like me wouldn't have counted towards the Funi Sales totals..

Still would like more Higu discs and more Zero, not to mention StrikerS and Shana II.............

Am I the only one who finds the last part of this statement a little funny? Laughing

If you haven't already, you can read the full post in context. Guess she was just being blunt, as it's undoubtedly something that comes up countless times.
