Excellent news. If I'm not mistaken, that gathers all of the canon Kenshin manga into one place. I'm going to buy the complete Viz Big release all at once when the ninth book comes out.

Congrats for Viz on releasing a new adaptation of one of the best manga ever.

Well that's too bad. I already have all 28 original volumes and do not want to buy one mismatched vol.9 Big edition for one story.

Yahiko no Sakabato was published in Shonen Jump in 2006.

Yeah, but VB editions hold up better than SJ.

There are two different short stories being published in the final VizBig edition. One, "Yahiko no Sakabato," has been previously published in English. The other short story has not been previously published in English, according to Viz. |

This is fantastic news. I love Kenshin. I've got most of the Viz big series, (up to 6), although I must admit I was frustrated wehen I got volume 5 because some of the pages were a bit bent, and I'm a bit OCD about the condition of my manga and DVDs.
Anyway, Its good to know that there is a bonus story included as well. |

But what "other short story?"
I'm a Kenshin fanatic, and I didn't know of anything outside of the two Rurouni One-Shots and the Yahiko short. I'lll get this because I do love the Enishi finale and to own Yahiko no Sakabato. Unless it's that short strip that was in Kenshin Kaden... |

Would the short story happen to be "Haru ni Sakura" from the Kenshin Kaden guidebook? As I recall, that was all in color and made a nice epilogue for the story.

Viz' website says: "Plus, the bonus short story 'Yahiko no Sakabato-' and an additional, all-color short story which is being published in English for the very first time!" So, I'm guessing that all-color short story -is- Haru ni Sakura. |

That's probably what it's going to be. It's an epilogue showing what happens to all the characters years later. |

On a semi-related note, is Embalming- the Another Tale of Frankenstein- being released on a regular basis (monthly)? Oh, how I wish the second one-shot (Dead Body and Lover) as well as the multi-volume series(preferably one chapters per month) was legally avaiable in English.
