If anime fans don't care nor acknowledge this anime, does it even count as a 2nd anime win (if it wins, of course)?

All I know is that this festival isn't coming anywhere in Northwest Ohio anytime soon. That sucks.

I don't know about you guys, but I've seen the "House of small cubes" at SF film festival as an independent animation. Either you could check out local film/animation festivals or wait for a video release. You guys totally overlooked Mt. head by Koji Yamamura which got Oscar nomination with Spirited Away at the same year.

I didn't. I reported on it, but anime fans didn't care, that's why I said what I said above.

Obviously much of the world still care since they submitted their films. As long as movie-going audiences around the globe use it as a factor whether to buy their movie tickets/videos/etc, it'll continue to be a marketing prestige.

Too bad I didn't catch the Oscars tonight, but glad to see it won anyway.
