Ahhh episode 5 is the "let's gauk at Feena's fu**ing hot bikini and gauk other girls" episode. Of course the episode wasn't totally full of fluff since Feena did learn how to swim easily, and spoiler[Tatsuya finally learned that Feena is his long-lost childhood friend that he made a promise to long time ago.] The comedy is sort of meh. Neutral

(corrected slightly)
Is it wrong that I wanted to see Mai in her swimsuit without that pullover shirt? Embarassed It seems they're sneaking in Hollywood movie parodies wherever they can--last week, Indiana Jones, and this week, JAWS, though Jaws wasn't brought by the Twister this time. But yeah, episode 5, hot girls in swimsuits, more abuse of Jin, more of Takano's antics, so I'm still liking the series overall.

Though I've seen my fair share of "hilarious perverted misunderstandings," the sequence before the eyecatch in ep 4 had me Laughing-ing. The overreactions and the missile destruction in #4 were a bit much, but it's a reminder that we shouldn't take things too seriously.

And, we get the confirmation of the childhood connection, in a somewhat touching scene. Ya gotta wonder, will we ever see more anime without the parental death sympathy card played? Probably not. Of course, that scene also had me thinking, "Damn, Tatsuya is dense."

I want to like this series, but episodes 3 and 4 have made that difficult. With the exception of a few moments, episode 4 was just awful. Episode 3 wasn't as bad, but the animation sure was.

Yeah, I thought the same thing. "You are remembering all that, and you need her to say something to make it click?" Yeah, he's pretty dense.

Episode 6...spoiler[the episode where the mistery character is finally introduced. The problem with them being together has risen like what happens in most series. Anybody catch all the imprints on the wall when the brother was knocked against it. ] All in all it was a fun episode moving on with the plot.

Got caught up on episodes 8 and 9 recently, looks like the plot is moving on towards the meat of the story. Unfortunately, it seems like they had to use the "childhood memories" device to justify Tatsuya and Feena going from strangers to a Romeo&Juliet-esque "we'd do anything to stay together" couple within the space of 12 episodes. Of course, that sort of thing isn't too unusual in anime, but still...

In the end, Yoake na probably isn't going into my or anyone else's "top favorites" lists, but it's a good enough relaxing/cute series to pass 12 episodes worth of time. For anyone just now reading this thread, if you're not already a fan of shows based on those ren'ai visual novel games, i.e. Shuffle, Kanon, Air, Da Capo, To Heart, Canvas (2), Lamune, Rumbling Hearts, etc. don't bother with Yoake na. I have to say I do like the music and OP/ED--I came across sheet music for the OP and played it reasonably well despite being out of practice. After all, that keyboard next to my DVD shelves ain't just for decoration, ya know Very Happy

Also, I picked up the Perfect Visual Book* at a convention a few weeks ago, and it's a pretty high-quality collection of images and information about the series, with a lovely hardback cover to boot. And when I say "images," I mean all kinds of images. One interesting fact I found, which they probably won't mention in the anime, is that spoiler[Mai is not Tatsuya's sister by blood, and only the two of them know this] which clears the way for, uh...you know. Yes, for these kinds of anime/games, that's par for the cliché course.

*Curse those evil industry-killing pirate fansubbers for stealing this series, since they encouraged me to spend $45 on a book for a show I wouldn't have heard of otherwise Wink
