Heh... My mom's voice (2nd alto) was so deep it's really rare to find someone who sings the way she did... [/teardrop]
Shoot! I forgot to mention L'Arc~En~Ciel among my faves. I haven't heard much (mostly their songs for FMA, Niji and my fave from them, Blurry Eyes), but Hyde's voice is great.

You sing? Music student or something? ... I'm supposed to be a soprano

You were part of a choir? Cool. I had to go back to my university's choir because it figured I hadn't finished the assignment ¬¬. I'm not a good singer, but it was either that or the orchestra (and I'm not ready yet).

Hmm. I haven't listened to any character songs in a while, but I'll go by what I used to like
Naozumi Takahashi- His Wormon character song from Digimon made me actually cry. I actually have a CD of his he released and the song Boku wa Heero is really cute and catchy. His character songs from Harukanaru Toki No Naka de are also really nice.
Seki Tomokazu- Who else can go from Chichiri's high pitched voice to that guy from Those Who Hunt Elves? He gets my vote for most amazing range of songs he's sung in character.
Hiro Yuki- I love all of his Weiss Kreuz songs. And then he goes and does Taikobou's character songs and I love him even more.

I like Aya Hirano who was the seiyu for Haruhi Suzumiya. She was also sang the ending theme and the 2 insert songs, right? I think she did a really good job (Although I couldn't believe it at first because Haruhi's speaking voice was different from the singing voice)
I also like Chieko Kawabe. She has a really cute voice, and I like how the song "be your girl" (Elfen Lied) was done. Then there's also "Sakura Kiss" (Ouran) which was a totally different song from "be your girl" which shows her versatility.

Vic Mignoga as Edward Elric. I don't think anyone else could make such a perfect match.
Hyde from L'Arc~en~Ciel. What can I say he has one of the best voices and the music style of the band sure make the whole thing that much better.
Unfortunately I don't know the names and such of others nor can I really think of other voice work I really like at the time. So forgive me for just listing these two.

He's a decent actor, but his rendition of Bratja seriously made me want to beat my head against a blunt object until I couldn't hear it anymore from the blood flowing out of my ears >.< Ugh. I don't know how the fangirls can stand it.
Of course, I force myself to like Paku songs I didn't really care for the first time through....-cough-OnlyOne-cough-

And that's why I only mentioned his role as Edward. The other voices I've heard for myself are decent for the most part.

I must say I wholly agree with everything said about Vic Mignogna so far. And, though it's cliche at this point in the thread, I do like Paku Romi and Hyde. I also really like the voices of Kitade Nana and Rie fu.
If you're talking about groups, well . . . L'arc, Asian Kung-fu Generation, Uverworld, Nightmare, Orange Range and others that didn't happen to pop into my head right now. I could go on for a while because of all the j-rock I've bought (or downloaded ) lately. I generally like these types of groups or voices because of their nice, sometimes rock or harder rock feel. But then again, pretty much anything in Japanese seems to sound cooler automatically .

I had 4 years of band, (flute) and 6 years of chorus including after school, all county twice, show choir, and even once we had a true honest to God barber shop quartet. Now the bsq was fun! I honestly think my voice sucks, and after many years of no practice it's dropped. Used to sing 1st tenor, but now probably down to a baritone. Might be able to hit 2nd tenor with practice again.
I'm not big into the j-pop and j-rock world. I buy OST's and simply listen. I infrequently remember names. I do know a few though. I like Gactk (spelling?), L Arc En Ciel, and my favorite is Yuki Kajiura.

Cool. I've played flute for 6 years and been in some choir for 13. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to sing different places around the country including Hawai'i. We also sang in Italy. I have sung a few songs in Japanese, but I don't like those as much as the songs discussed here .

I can definitely say the same regard Pop to J-Pop and Rock to J-Rock. Both pop and rock aren't exactly my favourite of genres but the Japanese counter parts I really do enjoy. I'm not sure about Rap and Hip-Hop though.

Sweet. I'm a viola player, and I can also play the guitar. Just don't ask me to play the piano (my left thumb gives me hell when I do so... It gets stuck)
