Lately, I've really been wanting an anime cd. Not necessarily of an anime I've seen or heard of. If anyone wants to make suggestions, then please feel free to do it.

Try checking out Sound Decision, a column that reviews anime/JPop CDs released in the US:
animenewsnetwork.com/columns/SoundDecision.php But as far as soundtrack recommendations go, what are your tastes in music? Personally, I recommend the Wolf's Rain OSTs. |

I'll just throw out "23ji no Ongaku," which is actually from the Japanese drama of the same name, BUT it's another Yoko Kanno work with a few songs in English by Maaya Sakamoto. (That makes it anime-esque!) The music's kinda quirky, folky, rocky pop stuff...so a typical Kanno album, I suppose.
Totally awesome and well worth the price of import from CDJapan or YesAsia. |

Any of the .hack OSTs are good too.

And speaking of .Hack, if you like that style of music, then I heavily recommend picking up Yuki Kajiura's "Fiction" CD. It has some of the songs that she wrote for .Hack//SIGN and Noir, and is available domestically from Geneon.

Anything by Yoko Kanno is worth picking up. I LOVE Wolf's Rain and can't stop listening to "Stray."
.hack//SIGN has some easy listening as well. If you want something to get you pumped up and ready for action, try Hellsing. And finally, I'd also suggest Furi Kuri for its energetic rock, if you like rock, that is. |

A couple that I might recommend would be the Record of Lodoss Wars soundtracks for a more classical/movie score feel, or the Macross Plus soundtracks for any Yoko Kano fan. Some of the Ramna 1/2 soundtracks are also fun. That's just my musical taste though.

Anything Yoko Kanno does is magic. Or at least, I think it is.
Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Wolf's Rain, and others are composed by her, and I would highly recommend all three soundtracks. Other than that, Noir is definately interesting, FLCL is just plain AWESOME if you like upbeat rock music, and I like the Lain Sound Track, though I'm not sure if others would enjoy it. And like said above, check out Sound Desision for helpful ideas. The stuff is almost right on with my opinions. |

In another thread here, I vouched for Noir's soundtrack. I would now also add Kare Kano's soundtrack as well. Being available domestically produced, it is by far the least expensive anime sountrack cd I have bought thus far, and the music is breezy and happy. Mostly, anyway.

Get the Noir soundtrack. It's one of my favorites. Alot of the music is kind of sad, but exciting too.

Well, maybe it's because something strange of myself, but most Noir songs seem to be taken out from a church, xDDD

It's not strange at all. Track 2 (Salva Nos) reminds me of a Gregorian chant, albeit on speed. The soundtracks' gothic/rock/techno mixture is so addicting, I can't tire of it.

We just listened to the OST that came with the Wolf's Rain LE boxset. Unfortunately, it's mostly back ground music, but Yoko Kanno still hits a home run with it.
Can't go wrong with FLCL...and the Poland Springs song is just hilarious. |
